it's just a chip guard. basically a clear bra.
take a hair dryer or a heat gun (LOW heat) wave it back and forth and then peel it off, then use goo-gone to remove residue if you have any.

I believe we all have it on our cars. I have it, but I also have it on the front of my car that I did to keep it free of bugs, rock chips, etc.

The end.

You might want to try some wax cleaner, might save you a lot of time.
I've used Meguire's & Mother's and they usually get out superficial marks
whether it's on the paint/plastic or protective film.
Assuming that smear is not down to the metal.

+1 and thats a good idea so I don't have to use painters tape.

Yes and no... clear bra is expensive, permanent and like the piece in the picture, is clearly visible from under 15, 10 feet away.

It's great for daily drivers, but not ideal for show cars.

IF you have the hookup for clearbra, it's worth it. Yes my car is a daily and far from a show car so it makes perfect sense.

I use ventureshield which is better than 3m or any other clear bra product I've ever used in the past on all my previous cars. No one has ever been able to tell I have clearbra on my car until I point it out, and that's even if you're looking for it.

I wouldn't say it's permanent since if you wait properly after fresh paint and put it on- it can peel off easy with some heat and goo-gone (if needed) and it'll be nice to go.

I'm much happier using this than painters tape way back in the day but if like you said have a show car, maybe something less 'permanent' is feasible such as that .

just my two cents, Dofu!

i wouldnt put it on my DD... makes the car ugly IMO.. Id rather pay to have my bumper painted to match (it would cost about the same)

^ uhm what?

clear bra is just a sheet of vinyl or material that is clear which is applied to the car areas that are painted to match..

I dont think it makes my car look ugly. But, to each their own. I rather have my car with minimal defects in the exterior than to have rock chips all over it, having it slightly noticable to me is worth the 'ugliness'.

I want to put it on my doors for all the *** holes that like to throw their doors open and hit other cars, might save from scratching. that material seems really expensive tho

My dad put it on his summer car (06 M6) from front to back, top to bottom.
It held up great and actually aided in protecting the cf roof somewhat.

Affalterbach: I agree with you. I usually just try and park as far as away as I can from the usual "suspects". Or I always try and find a spot near a curb if I'm in a packed parking lot and position is as close to it as I can so it minimizes that event of that happening. It's pretty annoying I'm sure- I once had a lady next to me that swung her door wide open when I was still in the car - no wind no nothing. I even rolled down the window and was like "ma'am can you please be more careful.." Of course as expected she just nonchalantly shrugged her shoulders. At least she didn't hit my car. What can you expect though right? Even if you drove a ferrari or lamborghini I'm sure there are others out there who could care less how they open their doors.

the name of them are Giovanna kilis, i haven't seen any other G with them that's the main reason i wanted to get them. its funny when i went to go buy them they had them on back order so i gave them my deposit and waited. the sales man had an OB G so we started talking bout our cars for a bit. after a while we walked outside he showed me his car that had 19' rays and i left... so my wait time was 2 weeks. a month later i get a call that they just got there. kinda a long wait but they was on back order so i didn't think much of it. So when i pull up to the parking area i see the OB G but it didn't have the rays anymore that's why i ended up waiting a month....

this was before this was taken the day they came off

and now just need a drop I'll be good to go
