depending on hidden damage 6k could be normal. 3k seems high for full coverage buy wht do you pay for liability? if its a lot cheaper i dont blame you for not having it. as long as this doest happen often.

It just goes back to getting a car that you can afford. If you can't afford the gas, can't afford the maintenance, can't afford insurance... get a cheaper car.

just saying if he has the car for 3 years and this is the only damage that car gets he saved money by not having full coverage. that is if full coverage would cost 3k more a year.

i dont think it has much to do with getting a cheaper car. if he only had liability than most likely the car is paid for.
