Things to know as a first time buyer?

Hey all,

Just sold my car, and am planning on picking up a G35 coupe. Anything in particular i should keep in mind while searching for one? I realize there was a refresh of the car in 2005, correct? Any major differences between the years? I plan on getting a 03-06, somewhere around there.

Basically looking for things I wouldn't know without being in the Infiniti scene for a bit, if that makes sense.

Hoping to post in about a month or so when I actually have the car and can officially say i've joined the community.

Thanks for helping a noob out fellas

-Murphy

In a nut shell off the top of my head...

-05+ has A MUCH better interior.
-06+ have this forums prefered style of headlights. (Projectors vs the 03-05 Reflectors)
-The 03-05 Refector Headlights come with the functional clearance strip, the 06+ do not.
-6MT comes in 2 engine configs. Revup and non revup. If you get a revup engine you'll likely run into oil consumption issues.
-The 03/04's had Brembo brakes as an option, no other years had this option stock. (Though more then a few people claim the 05 brakes are better in general then the brembos anyway, but they lack the flash)
-Ivory Pearl G's with Black interior are Rare and highly sought after. (Personally I prefer the Ivory Pearl G's with the more common Willow interior, but thats just me.)
-06+ G's Add Bluetooth and memory seats.
-03/04 G's have a cassette deck along with a cd changer.
-05-07's have FAR superior looking 19' Wheels (Rays)
-03-05 have what most call the "ironing Board" rear spoiler compared to the smaller 06/07 model.
-06's have a true "Sport Bumper". Meaning it's different then the stock option. The 03-05 sport package has the same bumper as the non-sport package. (FYI: Many front lips won't fit on the 06 sport bumper)

So 2007's don't have this "true" sport bumper?

I have a 04 and live it but I have to agree the interior on the 06+ is much better, I do like my brembos better than the other style brakes.

oil consumption is overhyped. i have been around many rev up Zs and Gs, and i only know of one case where oil consumption became an issue. warrenty also covers the engines, so if there is an issue they will generally replace the engine free of charge.

Thanks for the tips everyone, car shopping now as we speak.

So I've seen two conflicting posts however. Was the new interior introduced in 05' or 06'?

Still open to other info as well

Thanks

The 07 should have the unique sports bumper as well. Yeah when I first got my G I read about the oil consumption test and was tripping out. Went to the dealer and got an oil change and it doesnt seem like my revup burns any oil at all Really wanted a new engine over my 39k motor
