where in his statement did he say he will give you free brake pads and rotors??
the lights came on because of low brake fluid, cause your brakes are low... i'll bet you all he did was top off the brake fluid!

Re: Infiniti tried to rip me!!!!!!!!!!
If your brakes feel exactly the same, and they did the work for free, then I highly doubt you got new pads and rotors. They either replaced a sensor or topped off your brake fluid. I also agree you should take your car to someplace else and have them check to see if you have new brake parts.

Re: Infiniti tried to rip me!!!!!!!!!!
are you guys driving around with your foot on the brake or waiting until you're like 50ft from the light and then standing on the brakes? 20k is not so great for pads-especially if they are to the point of the rivets grooving the rotors. If they all wear out this fast, I am sorry I have the Brembos. I have owned several new vehicles and have never had to put pads on until after 35k. My truck has 27k on it and I had to put the spare on it about 3k ago, so I just took a look at the pads while I had the wheel off. They were still at least 3/8" thick and prob closer to 1/2". I won't even check 'em again till goin' on 40k. By the way, my truck weighs just a tinsy bit more than a G and should have more break wear.
I'll keep an eye on the coupes pads, but if I have to replace them at 15-20k -or 9k !!! - I will be on the phone and writing letters to Infinity, Nissan, and Brembo until I can get some assistance in replacing a (yes wearable) part that no other manufacturing company is struggling so horribly with. 9k or even 20k is rediculous IMO.

Re: Infiniti tried to rip me!!!!!!!!!!
thanks for the responses. i have the invoice from the dealership and it says that they replaced the rotors and the pads because i was complaining about grinding and squeling, which is total bs. anyway, i am going to take it some place just to check it out. the service manager did say that it could be caused by low brake fluid, but this wasnt the case. i just have never gone through brakes that quickly before.

omahaG, when you say "20k is not great for pads", that's not true bro. That's just based on your experience with cars. All cars and brakes are NOT created equal. Your truck is heavier, but it doesn't have performance brakes man. Performance brakes are known not to last very long..
Brake life all depends on the car (the brakes it comes with) and how you drive it. As I said before as an example, our ML500's first set of pads lasted for 18,000 miles, and then they lasted to 24,000 miles in which they changed the pads and the rotors.
I'm not hesitant to use my Brembos because of the wear and tear, but because I know that every single time I step on my brakes even moderately hard, like to slow me down on the highway due to on-coming traffic or something (basically when the power of the gears isn't enough), I KNOW that I just added some more viisble brake dust to the wheels !!!!!!!!!!

Re: Infiniti tried to rip me!!!!!!!!!!
Service advisors know nothing, especially female ones. They just try to translate what the grease monkey techs say is wrong. Asking if you are sitting down, is not professional at all for a luxury car / company on a warranteed car.
She prolly just talks a lot of bs like she is some know it all. You have to take what they say with a grain of salt; they are there to make money by lying to you, just so they can earn $$ for the dealer, his overhead, and their dumbass employees that they need to pay for.

Me at Infiniti Dealer-"I'm doubleparked in my Gc,I need some brochures." As I walk out, they ask if I bought my car there. I respond, "I tried to, unfortunately!!"

Re: Infiniti tried to rip me!!!!!!!!!!
when you say the truck doesn't have performance brakes, I assume you are talking about the pad composition. (By the way, the HEMI has duel piston 11" discs on all 4 corners.) We have used two different kinds of race pads on the laser. I can't tell you the mileage equivelant of our use, however, under extreem conditions such as braking from 70mph down to 10 or 15mph in about 30ft and left foot braking through sweeper turns, we got 3 seasons with two drivers out of our current "performance" brakes. As far as my experience, I have owned more than 20 cars - some of them for only a short time - and have never experienced brake wear like is being reported on this forum. I have had experience with performance brakes on two street driven cars in addition to the current racecar. I have never had Brembos before. Yes, they have established a name for themselves, but I still hold to my opinion that if they put together a package that wears out the pads and rotors in 20k that it is a substandard product. If mine go out very quickly I will be checking to see if Bear of one of the other "performance" manufacturers makes a conversion for the G. IF you were using the G as a track car on a regular basis, I would agree that it may not be excessive wear. But for a street driven car - performance brakes or not, I promise that a brake system could be put together that functions just as well as the Brembos without wearing out at 9k as some are reporting.
Again - I am not a brake expert - just my opinion.

Re: Infiniti tried to rip me!!!!!!!!!!
20K is unacceptable. You'd better believe consumer affairs would get a call from me. I still have a 1998 Toyota 4Runner (5 Speed) with 176,000 miles and I have never changed the pads. The dealer couldn't even explain that one but that's what good engineering gets you. I expect Brembo would be more knowlegable than toyota when it comes to brakes.

Re: Infiniti tried to rip me!!!!!!!!!!
ON THE COUPE 6MT with the BREMBOS it is not rare to find brakes going at 20K.
Its probably a 50-50 split. And the BREMBOs are not covered under the 3 year 36,000 mile warranty.
It depends on where you drive (city or highway) how you drive a lot of different factors are involved on the wearing down of brakes.
I've seen some brakes go as early as 10,000 and some are lasting at 40,000.
Bottom line is you didn't get ripped off because your Brembos are not covered under warranty. BUT if they told you they would replace your brakes and made you believe that they did and they are not replaced THAT is negligence on their part and could turn out to be very very dangerous. I would rip them a new A$$hole for that.
