Re: M3 VS G35 Thread
Just outa curiosity I trolled over and looked at this thread and have mixed feelings. It seems that the g35 site is alot more positive....can you say "insecurity"?
I mean, whadup ? Their subjects are largely negative: trash talk, who has more money and "a possible threat". Huh???

Re: M3 VS G35 Thread
They are completely different cars, both great cars. I have an M3, and we will be getting our G35 to add to the garage in the near future. The M3 is total luxury boy racer, while the G35 is more subtle in its prowlness. The M for me, and the G for my lady. They are both wonderful in their own way!

Re: M3 VS G35 Thread
someone said in japan the car is limited to 280hp and so can't beat the m3...
and only the tuned supras or skylines can...
well hate to break it to ya, the 280 is a gentlemans agreement! Most performance cars stock, break that number by a lot. And so...stock for stock, it beats the M3. Granted the luxury isn't on par...but enthusiats don't care!
EVO and Sti will wreck the M3...

Re: M3 VS G35 Thread
You guys have to understand something. Overall the ///M3 is one of the best packaged cars out there.
The coupe is sleek.
The ///M3 is aggressive.
Stock for Stock
Anyhow, why is it the best packaged car in the price range?
Well lets start by saying its a performance car. It puts out sports car numbers out of an N/A V6.
Numbers that a V8 C5, adn V8 CLK 55 pull.
The V6 Porsches Boxster S, and 911 Carrera are slower. It takes the forced fed 911 to beat an ///M3 striaght line.
It handles as good as these cars which are pure sports cars.
It does so and its 3400 pounds ! Whats scarier is that the CSL ///M3 beat the 3400 pound ///M3 on one of the tracks by a 1.31 minute margin.
Refinement. When you sit in the car, you can feel its quality. Certainly better in design and material over any 911, and Vette. The CLK 55 with its 4 spoke steering wheel and unsupportive seats isn't much of a match either.
While the ride is bumpy at times, it manages to make the ride subtle enough for a daily car. The insulation in it is great.
It has the best F1 transmission for a stock car now. It can shift at 0.08 seconds. Even Ferraris 360 Modenna stock F1 tranny shifts slower at 150 ms.
Sure you can get a faster car, sure you can mod a slower car to make it faster. Hell you can mod a WRX non sti to clobber a GT2. Does that make it a better car?
Better yet, you can mod a Tiburon to out handle and out perform a G35 coupe. But fact of the mattter is if you guys wanted pure performance you wouldn't have bought a G35 coupe. Most wanted the all around best package. Yet you compare Force Fed cars to an N/A car, and a 0 refinement Mitsubishi to an ///M3. Listen to yourselves.
Finally, the ///M3 seems to be the most picked on car. That should tell you how could it is. Magazines always compare performance cars to it, and any decent new coupe is compared to it. You compare a G35C to an ///M3, you might as well compare it to a CLK 55 and a 911 while you are at it.

Re: M3 VS G35 Thread
Well, not to brag, but I COULD afford an M3, MAYBE even an M5 if I truly wanted it for the exorbitant price tag. However, when I go no further than 2 miles down the road and see 4-5 BMW 3 series cruisin around I wonder if the M3 would get lost in the crowd. Sure, it's an awesome car....Equiped the way I would want it'd be about 55K. not including Tax. so add another 10% that would make it almost 61K. I'm just not sure I could justify my liking the car that much. Plus, I can now go and buy and Acura MDX loaded with part of that extra money I saved and add Forced induction to the G35. Awesome car, just too much money IMHO. Won't even go into reliability issues with non Japanese cars.
Nuff Said!
"Use the Forced Induction Luke!"
-Jedi
Ordered 4/03: 2003 G35C, 6MT, Blk/Blk. Loaded ETA ~ 7/03

Re: M3 VS G35 Thread
who said reliability and forced induction can't go together?
volvo does it!
didn't car and driver rate the S4 to be a better car over M3.
same with the RS6 over M5? pretty sure it was car and driver...or atleast a car mag.
anyways said something like the steering is numb?

Re: M3 VS G35 Thread
Yeah, glad to know that Audi can produce cars that are "better" than BMW's 3 years afterwards!

It would be nice if they compared the same generation of cars.
