N1 Polyurethane Lip fitment issue
N1 Polyurethane Lip fitment issue
Hey everybody - I just installed my N1 Polyurethane Lip and am seeing a slight gap between the driver & passenger side curve of the lip wrapping around the bumper.
Attached are some pics re the issue:
I tried using double sided tape but it didn't stick as well as i thought it would. Any suggestions to remedy this issue ??

Painted was $100. Wasn't hard at all to put on. Though I do advise you get a friend to help you out, as I installed it by myself. It's alot easier with one person holding it up on each side.
I'm just glad I picked up a polyurethane lip ... I learned the hard way with an ABS lip for my Integra back in the day - it cracked when I tried to strech it. Unlike polyurethane, you can pull / bend / stretch and it still won't break.

Use 3M trim tape and heat the lip up with a heat gun and work center to the sides. It will lay fine but you have to have good tape and heat the lip so it molds to the bumper better. Clean the mating surface with wax and grease remover and let it rip.

Even if heat is OK for the lip itself, would this affect the paint? (cause it to peel or tear or anything similar?) I can't imagine it being very good to twist and pull something freshly painted. Though I suppose the quality of the prep and paint would make a difference. Just curious.
The paint will not be a problem. If you look ay the temps when we bake a car in the booth the heat gun will be similar but is focused on one area so you don't want to bear down on top of it. If done correctly when painted it should have flex in the paint which keeps from splintering and flexible. Even if it doesn't paint still doesn't cure for a window of usually 30 days and it has some flex in it naturally until cured. A lot of times we will bake glass bumpers prior to the initial fitting to make any adjustments before we paint it. Sometimes when you order poly bumpers they have creases in them and we do the same thing. Throw some heat on it and you will be fine just use common sense and don't hold it an inch from the lip on the same spot for 5 minutes. Keep testing the spot for it to get soft and press it in place and continue to heat the areas before and after the problem area to ensure it is going to lay flat and not stress the tape.

fitment looks decent. i would recommend u to double up the double stick tape to make it thicker or however more layers are needed until the lip nicely touches the bumper. thats wat i had to do for my sides.
