Quick Question

Do the 5AT's, when in shift mode, if your close to red line or red lining, does it shift up for you for a safety feature? And if you have a Transgo kit, have you ran into any problems with it?

Quick answer: to my knowledge I've never gotten that close to redline, closest I have is about 6000rpm and it hasn't shifter for me.
Even with my transgo kit I rarely shift past 4500.

Why do you ask? You should always just try and shift before redline anyways.

It'll keep bouncing off the limiter if you're in tiptronic mode, it won't shift for you. I know this cause I raced the car at the drag strip.

No problems at all with my transgo.

Mine does not shift for me when it gets close to redline or hits redline. That would defeat the purpose of having a tiptronic option. I hate cars that, when in tiptronic mode, if you floor it, it drops gears automatically for you. That is not you controlling the gears, which is the whole point of tiptronic. The point of tiptronic is for you to control the gears at your own pace and to shift when you want to.

^what he said

It don't shift

It was one of the sales points for infiniti over Audi. Making a G sportier car over Audis similar AT transmissions that do shift up once you hit a red line and so even when you in Manual mode you still kind of in automatic, with infiniti you were in true fvcking manual

I just wanted know. Cause I was driving a dodge, and it shifted up for me in tiptronic. It was kinda annoying.

It was a crossover too. They look nice on the outside, but the interior makes you feel like your driving a van.

Yea I've started letting the car shift down for me. Like if I'm in 2nd I'll let it shift down to 1st. But if 3 or 4, I'll shift it to second and let it drop to 1st. Jumps to much when going into 1st.
