Exclamation Can't start car up!

Well I just got out of school today hopped in my car to start it and it almost started and then died. Then I was like what the heck! So I tried it again and I get nothing when turning the ignition. It was nothing but dashing lights all glowing tried it a couple more times and nothing! Well I get out of the car and check the terminals if they were tight and when I did that the postive clamp wasn't tightly snugged on i can just pull it off with my hands THANKS SEARS AUTO!!! Well I got a new battery from sears about a month ago. So I tighted it up and tried to jump it and nada. I did by jumping from a car and from a portable and car won't start at all. There is NO CLICK noise at all coming from when I turn the ignition all the way. DO you think its my starter? Any help would be appreciated need my car running again...GRRR!

Thanks!

could be a dead battery, have it tested then charged before you do anything, hopefully you have a warranty to have it replaced for free

If it was the battery then jumping it would have started it. It could possibly be the starter but that doesn't explain why it started and then died the first time. See if you can get any codes pulled off of it.

Fuel filter? plugs? injectors? bad gas? maybe battery?

I'd never bring my car to sears for battery, it's so easy I'd do it myself..

Could be the alternator too.

not really, I had a battery's that did this. jumping off will not power a completely dead cell battery. if you have no lights at all no nothing it's more than likely the battery.
I say check the fluid level in the battery to see if it's topped off. then have it tested and charged at auto zone or take it back to sears. it won't do you no harm.

I don't think it's the starter since you got it to crank the first time, and you heard the starter click. but if you kept trying to crank it and u got nothing u eventually drained whatever u had left in your battery and now you have nothing at all. If it was your alternator, u would of noticed some problems with all your lighting going dim while driving, before this problem occurred.

Check that the cable clamps to the battery (Pos and Neg) are tight. If one of them wiggles or moves, it can prevent the car from starting. After I had replaced all my Bose audio, I was driving to a store a couple of weeks later. Stopped at store , came out car wouldn't start, no lights, etc. Found a loose connection on the Pos. terminal. Tightened it, car started, drove off into the sunset.
