i drove the at sedan and it was ok i guess.. in the manual mode it doesn't really shift as fast (slight delay) as if you were to shift in a 6mt..

it's a sports coupe.. so 6mt it is =)

With ecu resets and 10 ground wires I would bet the 5AT would be crisper and faster than 99% of all sticks out there. I expect instant shifts especially after resets and find most people that drive it say it's amazing how crisp and fast the thing shift. The unreset ECU causes agonizing delays in shift time - I believe you it's awful but there is a solution.

Being that it's my daily driver, 90% of the time I'm extremely thankful I got the 5AT, especially since it has sport shift for that other 10% of the time to help cancel any wishes that I'd gotten the stick.

Maybe... maybe 5% of the time I drive the car I wish I had the 6MT. Clearly the 5AT was the right choice for me.

I love my 6MT. Even in LA traffic. But then again, I'm a control freak. I don't even like it when I press the window button and the window goes all the way down by itself!! Uh-oh. Anybody seen my prozac??

i agree, there are times that i wish i could have got a manual, even though i hardly have driven a manual before, it just seems more fun. however, there are advantages and disadvantages to both, just depends on the driver. i'm 20, and like you, i am in college and this car was a gift. i don't think regretting not having a 6mt is what you should be doing, you should just be thankful you have this car, auto or manual, doesn't matter. it was a GIFT, and you should be happy that you have such an amazing car at such a young age. there's plenty of time later in life to buy a manual. appreciate what you have bro, that's what's important. well anyway, that was just my 0.02

Re: 5 AT owners, sometimes do u wish u had a 6mt?

when I look at the G it always seems to me like the car was meant for an automatic tranny. The car just seems very elegant and sporty tourer...while the Z is just sport.

I dont miss driving a manual in traffic...and 8 outta 10 times if you race from light to light the auto will beat the stick...unless an exerienced driver and beats the clutch....while in an auto take the VDC off,,,put it in manumatic and floor it.

resale value is almost always better in an auto and it just fits more people.

drink your coffee on the way to work...put your hand up your girls skirt...get a hummer while cruising.....much smoother ride...when I get **** drunk I let my girl drive which would never happen with a stick.....dont worry as much when I valet park

pros of driving a stick....more control in the twisties and better delivery coming outta of it.....I guess more hp on a dyno.....sorry cant think of any more

Re: 5 AT owners, sometimes do u wish u had a 6mt?

Here is my 2 cents =)

Ask yourself this question. Do you love driving?

If yes, then most likely you like driving a stick. Do you think the G is more of a sports car or luxury? If more sporty, then you’re most likely a stick driver. Are you the type that feels like you need to control what you drive? Then you’re a stick driver. If you’re young, like racing, like burning out, then you’re a stick driver. If your a real man, then your a stick driver..ahhah kidding.

If you answer no, then most likely you’re an auto driver. If you have to talk on the cell phone w/o having to worry bout shifting gears, then you’re an auto driver. If you just drive because you have to drive, then you’re a auto driver. If you hate traffic and you cannot help it, you’re an auto driver. If you want your chick to drive your car, then you’re an auto driver =)

At the end, 6MT isn't all that bad. Once you hit 5th or 6th gear, depending on the speed of traffic on the freeway, you have nothing else to worry bout when it comes to shifting. To me, driving a stick is a whole lot more fun. You are one with the car, basically. I've been driving stick for approx 8 years now. I still love it, so much that I had ordered a stick for the next few years of my life. I can only picture myself in an auto if the car that I want only comes in an auto, ie SUV. I do think that my next car after the G will be an auto though, really depends if I start a family or not.

Some people think that driving stick is the only way to drive. Wellz, that would be me =) hahha. AUTO is great sometimes and I do think about it while in traffic, but at the end of the day I'm just glad that I got a manual car though. Plus driving a stick is a good excuse if your chick wants to hold hand while driving..ahhah =) Some of you here could relate. I'm coming from a 1990 Integra, so I have so much to gain with my car coming soon. I just cannot wait, more gear for me to shift, more HP, more everything. The G is just a damn beautiful car.

One last thing, when people hear sports car, first thing that they think of is a stick shift. It’s just natural. That’s why they don't make Ferrari in auto =) hehe.

As for one member saying that an AT would beat a 6MT in straight line racing. Wellz you might be right sometimes, but what is racing when it comes to an auto? That shouldn't be even called racing, more like who could press their pedal faster. That’s about it. As for getting more from you chick as one member stated, last time I check, your more of a pimp if you have a stick =) Chicks dig the stick, and the 6MT too of course. Also, there nothing better then rolling back on the streets, looks hardcore..ehhe..of course you could get away doing this on an AT as well, but that would be g@y.

Re: 5 AT owners, sometimes do u wish u had a 6mt?

yea thx for the input, you guys gave me that extra push to get a 6mt. now all i gotta do is save 2k!! : / but i know it will be worth it. i kno i am gonna have this car for like the next 5 years at least, so i wanna get something that i rly like. I dont think i will be losing too much on the hit because im most likely gonna get a used with les than 10k mi. My car should have a rly good resale value considering i got every option but nav and my G has sexy chrome 18s on it. Probably in the spring ill trade. Or maybe ill sell my G private party and just drive my mom's car till i find an 04 black 6mt less than 10k mi.

Sixfive your right, although i notice now even with ecu resets the shifting is getting laggier, i think its because my pulley belts are stretched and slipping a little though, yes it does make a diff! Anyway i take it just past redline where my shift goes in gear instantly with no lag, ive learned this car inside and out and Pratik yes gas mileage goes down ALOT, but i cant help myself, i was meant for a stick =)
