i'm assuming you have Auto a/c system. If so, what was the ambient temp by you..the automatic system will do whatever it has to (ac and/or heat) to maintain the desired temp, unless set to max cold or heat. the system uses sensors and control units to operate, which do on occasion go faulty. There is a self-diagnosis check of these controls and sensors u can do

the temp by me is around 90 degrees. and auto mode sets it at 60 with the a/c blasting. if i manually put it at 61 or above it starts blasting heat.

do you know where i can find how to do the self-diagnosis check?

Thanks.

My guess is you bought either an 03 or 04 and you have the dreaded control board failure. The only real solution is to replace it with a DD. These years are known for a faulty control board in the radio/AC controls that go out. You can try hitting the console around the radio real hard on the side and this has proven to be a temporary fix for a lot of cars, but if it works you'll have the same problem down the road.

Also, didn't you check out everything on the car when you looked at it before you bought it? If not, consider that a lesson learned. A good DD set up will cost you well over $1000.

the car is an 05. and what is a DD? and if this is a issue without a quick fix i'm going to take it back to the dealer i just bought it from hopefully they will fix it. and also i see most people have problems with the radio also mine seems fine...

A DD is an aftermarket radio and control AC control board with a finisher that will fill the entire hole caused by removing the stock unit. 05s aren't known for this issue so I'm surprised to hear it's happened to your car. Definitely take it back to where you bought it and try to get them to fix the issue. Good luck.

Yeah, thanks, thats the plan asap. I was doing some research and i can't believe how many cars the control board failure has happened to, but like you said most of those cases looked like 03 and 04's. Hopefully this is not the case

I've been a member here for over 2 years and you're the second 05-06 I've heard that has had this issue.

Try unhooking the battery for an hour, press on the brake a few times after you get the battery disconnected, and then put everything back together and see if that works. Might just be an electrical glitch and could save you a trip back to the dealer if it works. If it doesn't, all you're out is an hour of your time.

Sorry man, I'm out of ideas. Let us know what the issue is if you get it fixed.

to put a/c control head in self diagnosis do this:
turn a/c system off
turn off car
turn ignition on, while holding OFF button on a/c..wait for all lights to come on
turn temp dial til u see mode 41
press 'mode' (i think) it will enter sensor temp readings
this is the sensor diagnosis
i forget what button toggles thru sensor readings, but believe its the fan up/down..try pressing up
there are 3 sensors..ambient, intake(air intake for a/c system), in-cabin
your looking for readings close to the actual temp, if one is shorted it will say like -23deg or 119deg. Good luck (i'm going off memory here so some of these steps may be off...but u can restart self-diag at any time by cycling key off and then back on w/ OFF button pressed
