Potential buyer

Hey guys, I am new here. Will be buying a g35 soon as soon as I find one that suits me. I have heard about the g35s burning a lot of oil? How often does this occur and what do people do about it? I saw a TSB regarding it, do the engines get replaced for free if this happens? Does it have to be under warrenty? Also How are these cars to maintain..pretty cheap I am assuming even though it is an infinity? Tires expensive? What are the most common problems? Insurance pretty decent for a 20 year old guy? Anything else I should know?
Thanks guys

Welcome!

Tires are supposed to wear out fast, and probably cost 1K or so for a decent set on stock wheels. I haven't noticed this yet with some spirited driving, tires seem fine. Maintenance is pretty cheap really, most can be done yourself with a little research and basic tools. Common problems; window motors die, cd player dies, leaking valve cover gaskets, burning oil, eats gas and take mah munnies fo teh mods...lolz

I'm also 21 and insurance isn't too bad. Just to throw this out there, I've had my G for 6~ months and:

-hasn't burned any oil
-pass. side window motor died
-cd player skips when using burned cds during cold weather
-tires haven't appeared to wear excessively

I'd recommend doing a tune up of course, tranny/diff fluids, spark plugs, air filter, coolant and belts. Good luck sir! (And yes, I'm bored in class....)

Gas is killing me right now, premium ony and my Nav says I'm averaging 15.5 mpg with mostly city driving. Getting expensive for sure. Just something to think about.

My BOSE head unit is crapping out, the left speaker cuts out and comes back throughout the day but I just smack the head unit and it works for a while. Gas is alright, I've been getting around 16 mpg mostly city driving, and I like to get on it on the freeways once in a while.

20 gallons. Takes 15-16 gallons when the gas light comes on, depends on how long u drive it after the gas light comes on.

I had an F150 as well, 1998 with V8 5.4L, it needed new plugs and tune up so it was getting not even 10mpg. Sold it and gave a down payment for my 04 G35.

Also beware of interior rattles if you like music with bass and play it somewhat loud. The headliner I noticed rattles in the back near the top of the glass, and the rear view mirror also has a faint rattle, and my passenger door as well. I just stuff a water bottle or rags in my passenger door compartment and it stops that. I have yet to pull the headliner off but when I do, I'm going to put a bunch of foam tape all over the roof and back.

15.5mpg what are you doing to your car bro flooring it all day? You might want to get that checked out because that's really low I'm getting ~300 miles every tank with a CAI(iono if that helps I heard it saves gas)

If you are getting 300miles/tank and it is a 20gal tank you are getting 15 mpg. You might want to get that checked lol
