can't negotiate on a 2005 6mt?
can't negotiate on a 2005 6mt?
Hey wassup everyone
I just placed an order for a 2005 6mt last night at a dealership in southern california. They said that they have no pricing yet on the vehicle so they can't negotiate a deal. Well... at least the deposit is fully refundable, but I read that others are able to lock in a price now? Is this a SoCal thing because another dealership I went to earlier said the same thing about pricing being unavailable. Anyone else placed an order recently at a SoCal dealership and gotten similar statements?

When negotiating on the price of a vehicle that...
1. is not available yet
2. the customer can not drive home NOW
3. might have the perception of "being in high demand"
...you shouldn't expect to get very far. Personally I recommend that go to the dealership and test a car that you would be willing to drive home in THAT DAY. If you want a 6MT, then wait until there are several on the lot to choose from. Go in with your check book in your top pocket (sticking out slightly) and have all of your facts straight. Give them 1 hour to let you test drive the vehicle and then tell them your "buy it now" price. If they don't agree to that price almost immediately, politely thank them for the test drive and LEAVE. (You will get a phone call within 24 hours requesting you come back to the dealership, guaranteed).
That, my friend, is your bargaining power. Right now, you're just "trying to deal" on a vehicle that they can only take a refundable deposit on. It's probably not worth their time to haggle with you, YET...

Re: can't negotiate on a 2005 6mt?
it's odd that the pricing on the 05 6mt coupes are out on edmunds.com with retail and invoice pricing. and yet, the actual dealer doesn't have it yet!!!! either way, if they don't allow for negotiating on a new 05 coupe, go elsewhere that will. the car has been out for its third year now and there's no reason for paying msrp.
i contacted several places in nor. cal and they tried the same b.s. on me too. i just walked and looked elsewhere. i finalized a deal for a 05 6mt coupe with premium/nav and got about $1200 off msrp with some free accessories thrown in too. and believe me, i'm not experienced in haggling and dealing. i know for a fact there are plenty of infiniti dealers all over socal. worse comes to worse, bring in a copy of the freshalloy grubbs membership special pricing worksheet and that can be your bargaining chip. pm me if you need a copy since you have to be a member to gain access to the pricing sheet. that was what i did when i visited the local dealers.

I'm using VPP, so its really a no hassle deal. I'm getting approx 3K off, w/o having to deal with dlrship BS. Only thing bout VPP, is that only a few dealerships will deal with u or take it. Wellz, I'm just glad that I have one sorta close to me, about a 2 hours drive =) Its worth it though.

Yeah, I'm also using VPP to buy an '05 G35 Coupe 6MT with a little better than a $3K savings, no negotiation required. Mine should be in around the first week of February.
