My front end makes a creaking noise when I'm driving, and the sound gets faster as I drive faster.

When I depress the brakes, the sound goes away. But when I let up off the brakes quickly, there's a funky thud sound.

Anyone know what's up? Could something be loose with the brake pads?

Problem with the suspension?

I find it weird because the creaking noise occurs with what seems like every rotation of the wheel.

 

Compression rods are the first thing I would check.

When you do your next oil change and have your G up in the air check your sway bar bushing, have they rotted away or are they just dry....there's a spray for that. Check the rest of your suspension too, living in your climate nothing lasts long.

Ahh I just had it up over the weekend. I'm not too familiar with anything outside of basic oil changes and filters.

Anyone know a good place to get this checked out besides the dealer?

I should add the car is a 2004 automatic with 90k miles.
