G35 Compression Rods are Total Crap

G35 Compression Rods are Total Crap

I have a 04 Coupe with 22,000 miles and my girlfriend's 06 sedan has 14,000 miles. Both cars have creaking coming from the front end which can be heard going up and off driveways. I've just noticed my creaking and I have 2 months left on the warranty. The compression rod is over $300 for the part alone and the noise usually develops after 20,000 miles. I never have my radio on so I hear everything. I had a G35 loaner that had more creaking than I could handle in the few days of driving. Again, we have another annoyance and expense on a car that is supposed to be reliable. I have tolerated the weak paint, brake dust and premature pad wear, rattles, distorted front end geometry causing inside front tire feathering as well as premature middle tread wear on rear tires, and now creaking from the compression rods that makes the car sound like an old beater. There have been numerous threads about the bushings on the compression rods, but when a 14,000 mile 06 sedan has the same issues I feel that this is all getting very old.

Compression rod [tension rod] sets the caster while forming a stiffening triangle between tie rod end, lower arm and rod.

Yup I've had the compression rod squeak for quite some time now. And having the dealer replace it only delays the inevitable. Spraying some silicone based lubricant on the bushings will quiet them down but it only lasts for like a week before the squeaks rears its ugly head again. Only solution I can see is to replace the bushing with something else. Too bad the Nismo set doesn't replace that one in particular.

Any progress on a solution? I'm way out of warranty and the noise is killing me

i had mine replaced at around 12k miles. not looking forward to it coming back but i will have to get infiniti to warranty it each time. i hope they come up with a solution to the problem.

I have the right side compression rod on order. Supposedly, the rod has been redesigned. It has a new part number supposedly.

Right side: 54468-AC70F $148.38
Left side: 54469-AC70F $148.38

"Infiniti has had a design change and the correct parts are being sent to you."

That's from autopartspeople.com

So I'm waiting for it to come so I can get rid of my noise. I wish my noise was only a creaking. Mine is a rattle and hopefully, I have diagnosed it correctly and the new compression rod will solve the issue.

Yes, those are different part numbers than what I had replaced in Dec 2005 (which were 54468-AL511 & 54469-AL511).

The part numbers I posted are supposed to be for the new updated part. They are being shipped today...supposedly
