Going down in rim size

I know everybody is going to tell me to do a search but I have a '05 Coupe 6spd and I need tires really bad. The stock 19's tires are really expensive and I found that I could get 4 rims and tires in 18's for less than the price of 4 19" tires. So my question is has anybody did this and if so do you need to do anything with the TMPS or anything? Thanks guys.

I went from my OEM 17's to OEM 19's and finally settled on 18 inch wheels. Honestly, I daily my G and find the ride to.be better on 18 imch wheels. If the wheels you are looking at have TPMS all youll need to do is visit your closest Nissan or .Infiniti dealership and have them reprogrammed.

No tpms will work regardless of size. I used my oem 17" sensors in my new ray 19s.

When you say 4 rims in 18", are you referring to the OEM 18"s? If so, then you'll have no problem swapping out the TPMS from the 19"s to the 18"s...don't even need to go to the dealer.

If the 18"s are aftermarket, then the TPMS may not mount to them without an adapter.

Thanks for the quick response guys, so the rims I'm looking at are aftermarket 18's. If I could find some stock 18's with tires I'd be all over it but yeah the ones I'm looking at are aftermarket. Does anybody know how much the TMPS kit is?

I've heard that on the 03-04 if you leave out the TPMS sensors the light wont come on, but I think it changes for 2005 iirc.

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods
If the rims and tires are that cheap, they're probably not good quality. The ride will be better on 18s but don't cheap out on wheels/tires as they are critical safety items on your ride.

My 04 light would come on when I had my winter wheels on with no TPMS. However thats after something like 25 miles of driving.

Just stick with a well known brand name wheel. Get with Neal@tirerack. He is a vendor here and will be able to get you set up with a set of wheels that your TPMS will fit.

You only have to get them reprogrammed if you change which wheel location they are at. Left the Left Front senor at the Left Front and so forth.

oh yeah... You will be fine swapping out to the 18's. Its a better ride and cheaper to drive. I will never put 19's on anything again due to the cost of tires.
