Rear Bumper
Rear Bumper
Hi everyone,
Last night, I backed up into another car and left a dent the size of about a basketball on my driver side rear bumper and a few paint chips and cracks. I had some guy at a gas station popped out the dent with a stick and I just buffed off some of the scratches with Meguiar's Scratch X. It's a temporary fix and looks a lot better than how it was when I first bumped it. I'm just wondering if there's any way to repair the remaining damages without having to buy a whole new bumper and if it's really even worth it? Or should I just save up for either a new OEM or aftermarket bumper? My car is completely stock, Thanks!

how the heck did he jus pop it out with a stick? i had the same dent cus some ********** did a hit and run. i had to remove all the interior trunk panels to get close to the area to push it out
He tried doing it on the ground but didn't work so he had to raise it up. It took him like five minutes. I was surprised as I didn't think it was possible push out the plastic material. And I did drive off at first because I was freaked out but I went to his house and told him and he was super grateful that I did.

There are companys like "The Dent Man" that fix bumpers like yours and paint them too....check the yellow pages for a shop near you. Beats buying a new bumper when yours can be fixed/repaired like new!

Thanks Gary, I appreciate you being the first to actually address my question!
And I know this sounds terrible but I also just used some of my white nail polish to touch up those little black paint chips.. Seems to look ok until I actually have time on Monday to bring it to a body shop.

Hey hey hey!
So the next time I see a thread about a blown motor, Im gonna group all you boys together.
I dont get why you drive away as a first instinct when getting into an accident..... but at least you went back? lol. Haha and thats one handy thing about being a girl when you get paint messed up, you can always find a nail polish to match it!

It's not worth fixing it.. I've come across damaged rear bumpers and it will be a pain in the *** and you will end up buying a either a new dealer bumper or a used good bumper off of someone.
Haha. I did almost the exact same thing. And I got mine popped out except yours looks a lot better than mine even though your damage looked kind of worse. I have a black line coming down my rear bumper from where the paint chipped and it looks like yours too now. Ugly unsmooth little random bumps. I have an IP too.
