2006 G35 shifter

My wifes bosses has a 2006 g35 coupe that i installed a double din radio in, the install went perfect except that im stuck on one little piece, the car is AUTO and when i installed the shifter back the button that allows you to take the car out of park and change gears does not work, did something maybe fall out of it? But if i take the shifter off and push the rod by hand i can change the gears

I believe that you are missing the plastice piece that goes on the "rod" that the button pushes down to move from Park to drive to neutral etc. It extends the length so the button makes contact. Look for a blue piece of plastic. Is the button loose with no pressure?

I have no idea what that part is called. It's blue and about 1.5" long. Check under the driver and passenger seats it could have fallen down there when you removed the shift ****.

I'm trying to find a picture showing what it looks like. I seem to drop stuff between my console and seat and they are a PIA to get back.
Check on the seat rail or under it. It might be under the console around the shifter too.

Sounds like you're forgetting the lock pin. If i'm remembering correctly, if you don't put the lock pin (part #2 below) back in, the **** will sit low and the button won't engage. You have to hold the **** at the right hieght to put the pin back in. Look on page AT-215. http://www.psedog.com/cars/fsm/g35/coupe/2006/at.pdf

Pretty sure the 06 auto doesn't have a blue extension. I don't recall seeing one on my 06 auto coupe.
Aha! I was wrong on the blue thing. My bad 4D! Looked back through my old install pics and saw that blue thing. Hang on and i'll up a picture.

Thats the part I was trying to find a pic of.
I belive that lock pin (c-clip looking thing) just holds the shift **** in place once you put it on.
Good pic.

He needs the blue extension piece in the picture.

I would try the drealer first, then maybe some salvage yards. Its a piece that stays with the car when you swap shifters so I dont think you will have much luck in the classifieds.
