Ok, I tried searching and either the old contact is not searchable or it's not up and running yet. I know this was posted before, but I can't remember what it said. My light came on this morning. I checked the pressure with my guage and all 4 tires are where they should be. I thought I saw something about being able to reset the system. Can anyone enlighten me? If this is a glitch, I'd rather save a trip to the dealer to get this taken care of. TIA.

 

If I remember correctly, make sure the tire pressure is correct, and then drive for a few minutes.

 

I saw a post that said that you have to take the car to the dealer to "register" the monitors. The dealer attaches a device to the valve stem on each tire and registers the monitor transmitters to the car's receiver. My new 2004 coupe has this issue where the warning light comes on after about 20-30 minutes of driving (resets after turning the car off and on). I need to take the car in to have this registration procedure.

 

I just went through this to a degree. Service advisor said the pressure had to be between 36-38 (coupe) for it to reset. But I didn't have any problems until they had to replace my Body Control Module and was towed. The BCM recognizes the key fob and security chip in the key, so it makes sense to me it senses the tire sensors too. If you've not had maintenance, set the pressure higher, and drive it at least 40 mph for a few minutes.

 

Well it ended up going off by itself. Maybe the cold weather had something to do with it. I dunno. I think I read that it also detects a sudden drop in pressure as well. Anyone know if the system does this between start-ups as well or if the system only looks for a drop in pressure during each session of driving? That would be my only explanation if everything is working properly...

 

Nah, it just needs to be over 28 for it to reset. I verified this about 2 weeks ago, when mine turned on. I verified my pressure with a digital guage, was 28psi. I left the car running on purpose, because I wasnted to see if the light would shut off immediately. I filled up my tires to 32psi, and the lights turned off. I haven't seen them on since...
