What Can I Get For Better ENgine Performace?
What Can I Get For Better ENgine Performace?
What mods can I make for better engine performance as far as speed and to make it last. I've already got an injen cold air intake. What else can I do? I was thinking about headers and a new exhaust.
Headers don't do much for our cars, and the install is a PITA from what I have been able to research. For better engine performance, if your planning on going N.A. (Naturally Aspired) would be to get a nice true dual cat back + motordyne spacer + tune. Maybe add in some test pipes/hfc's or motordyne art pipes if you have the $$

These topics have been discussed numerous times and with a little bit of effort and proper use of the search function, those threads can point you in the right direction and give you good information. There is plenty of information on this forum, you just have to put forth the effort to try and locate it.
With that said, I will at least point you in the right direction with your question.
A plenum spacer will give you a bit of added extra power, but not by much. Just like any of the bolt-on modifications for our car, they will not yield you a whole lot of power.
Exhaust will help, people offer different opinions about the HKS or the MotorDyne. It would seem like MotorDyne is winning that race. However, I don't have any definite proof that one yields more power then the other, but I'm sure someone could probably chime in with actual proof or a dyno chart.
I would get rid of your Injen Cold Air intake. They have problems with overheating and with the terrible heat soak in our engine bays already, the results of that happening would be undesirable.
Go through this thread, read some of the information that Rob Miller has taken his precious time to put together, and decide on what intake is best for you. It is imperative that you at least read this information, since it is one of the must useful threads this forum has to offer.

Headers would be a waste of time if you're not FI. Not to mention the amount of work it requires to actually install. But if you're hoping a shop can do it for you, then I bid you good luck sir. Some shops will charge upwards to $300 - $400 for the install of headers. They aren't easily accessible for our cars.
High Flow Cats, Test Pipes, stuff like that will also yield minor power gains.
But even if you got EVERY single bolt-on breather mod you possibly could on your car, you'll be lucky if you break 300whp on the dyno with them. The only real solution for more power and speed would be to look into FI.

Makes your engine breathe better, its a spacer that goes between your upper plenum and lower plenum.
I'm not sure if anyone read the last Import Tuner magazine issue, but they had an article about several bolt-on's on a 350z that yelded 20hp and 19tq. Not sure if the information is valid enough tough.

Yea, I'd rather pay off my car than spend 5-6K on a twin turbo kit. If I had a lot of disposable income I would probably do both.
In order to answer ur ques correctly you'll need to let us know what year coupe
and if ur auto or 6mt.
Your transmission setup and whether u have the revup engine dictates what mods to get.
