Spoiler...What to do?

I need ur opinion.

Should I go ahead and get the Carbon Creations G35 COupe rear spoiler or buy the OEM rear spoiler.

I am kind of drifting towards the OEM rear spoiler b/c it has brake lights in it. Does anyone know if I bought one of these from a website how I would wire the spoilier?? Or, do the ones sold by the factory even have the lights?

Watch out for a leaking trunk

I would be wary of any (including OEM) spoiler that requires you to drill holes in the trunk to mount it.

Several members have had the dealer install what they thought was a OEM spoiler. When their trunk started leaking, the warranty issues became very interesting...

If you do go with the OEM spoiler, everything should be prewired, all you should have to do is plug in the connectors.

It does look like the OEM spoiler is around $400.

If the spoiler is large enough you will want to drill holes into your trunk
to have it properly mounted. If you're worried about leaks, what you
can do is during install fill up the lip of the opening using silicon caulk.

I think that the OEM spoiler does not require drilling. I heard somewhere that the dealership glues it on.

So you guys would get the OEM spoiler over the Carbon Creations carbonfiber one?

Do you think I should install the spoiler or go to a dealership?

i doubt it isn't screwed on... even the my Z's oem spoiler is screwed on, and that thing is tiny...

i don't know what the cc wing looks like for the G, but unpainted carbon fiber is starting to look more and more "ricey" everyday... it was hot back in the day when it first came out, but it's one of those thing that's "over with" painted look soo much cleaner... i say go for the oem wing, it flows nicely with the car

The car lines look good without any spoiler.

I'd get the Carbon Creations spoiler. Mines practically brand new (for sale).

But OEM or CC both require drilling (otherwise, how would you connect the brake light for one thing).

me too. I looked all over to find my G35C without the spoiler.

I like my car without the mud guards either.

OEM Spoiler

The OEM Spoiler DOES require drilling. Lots of it. I got one from everythingg35.com. Super fast shipping. It comes with very detailed instructions, and a nice mounting template to get your holes drilled correctly. Feel free to PM me if you want more info... there is a lot of holes to drill... six holes for some snap type mounts, three more for actual bolts, and one more for wiring harness. The wiring bit is super easy, once you get the rear trim piece off of the underside of the trunk lid you can see the plug for it. No soldering, or cutting of wires at all. The whole job took me about 2.5 hours to do, and I double and triple checked everything before drilling.

There is also a bunch of sticky tape that keeps it down, but you DEFINITELY drill holes. No biggie though, easy job. Scary, but easy.

I love the "ironing board" (as Motor Trend calls it) OEM spoiler on my Caribbean Blue Coupe. I think the spoiler looks better on some colors than others. It looks really good on the CB. Gotta love that .28 cd!
