so the UPS man came the other day.......

so the UPS man came the other day and dropped off this cooler.. i'm quite excited.. I'm not going to buy a kit because they either cost way too much for what you get or they don't seem like very good quality... So i'm going piece together mine and have a local fabricator make the manifolds for me.. or i'm thinking of replicating the turbonetics single turbo kit for the 350z.. The charge pipes i can just get it from www.jcwhitney.com and cut it up myself with the good ole band saw and have a welder weld all the pipes.. this will be quite a long project for me hehe but it'll be fun to do.
i'm not looking for HUGE power. I just want something that will give me a little more UMPH in the car.. shooting for 320rwhp.. around there will be sufficient for me.

that's exactly what i did when i custom fabbed a turbo kit for my maxima.. i bought a front bumper with a big mouth, bought a gigantic intercooler to fit it and then pieced together a kit of my own. chop saw and a bunch of mandrel bends later and i had a turbo kit putting out better numbers per psi than any kit made by any company for the maxima.

take your time, ask lots of questions to the knowledgable people here and on my350z and don't cut any corners. can't wait to see your progress.

auto- lol i see your car everywhere.. couple sundays ago i was right behind u.. you don't like to look at people when you drive huh? haha

turbomax- sounds good.. maybe when i really get into it, you can help me out with some small things.. i wish this car was as easy to turbo like with the honda... btw- do you have any pictures? it's always nice to look at DIY turbo cars

i'm shotting to spend around +-$3200 hopfully by the time i get everything together, AEM will come out with a standalone like the hks fcon.

I spent around $3600.00 on parts and that was getting everything at wholesale or cost through friends. The most expensive parts were of course the turbo itself and the intercooler. I paid just over $1200.00 for both of those pieces. Nissan didn't make it easy when they were cramming engines in these cars, so it was a ton of fab work on the piping. Definitely find a kit that you like and try and model it off of that, otherwise you will be doing the piping for years...

Make sure to have a couple extra bucks laying around for fuel lines, gauges, wiring and all of the little stuff that definitely adds up that you don't think about right away. I will try and put some pictures up of the whole install, but for now this was what it ended up looking like as a finished piece:
