Stock cats

Will knocking out the metal in the stock cats increase sound/performance. I currently have a borla axle back. How hard would this be to do?
Thanks

Yes it will sound louder and maybe get another 1 or 2 HP.. very unnoticae. I don't know how hard it is to cut out but if u do, u won't b able to pass smog. Just get some test pipes or HFC... I have some test pipes for sale...

Sound will increase and performance will probably decrease/remain the same due to turbulance in the hollowed cat.
If you want to increase performance and sound buy some HFC's (to stay legal) or test pipes (not legal).

Unless your OE cats are shot/wasted you're better off hanging on to them, we never know when the smog cops will come up with a new law or change the rules. Best advice get BERK'S HFCs, you'll gain a deeper sound along with 8 RWHP and be legal too. Check our MARKETPLACE under vendor exhaust....

i've hollowed out a cat before, it was quite easy, took 5-10 minutes with a few random tools.

thing was it was from a 92 GTR, and the cat on that is straight, ours are L shaped at like 120 degrees or something like that, it wont be as easy.

plus they're worth quite a bit, if you want more power and loud for cheap, get test pipes. can probably get a used set for $50, but you'll suffer from the fartiness.

best way to stay legal is to get a HFC, or get ARTs and swap in the stock cats for smog. That's what i do.
