Question Tire pressure monitor came on

The tire pressure monitor came on unexpectedly today on the freeway. It was raining here in Los Angeles and on it went. I have had aftermarket rims for more than a month and this is the first time it happened. I turned the car off and the warning light turned off as well. Then just to test a theory, I let the car slide on a turn and on it came again! Is this normal?

did you take the tire pressure sensors out of your stock wheels and put them in the aftermarket wheels????

if not, thats your problem.

I did the same thing, I went from 18's to 19's and lost my TPS system so after a week of driving around the indicator came on but once I turned the car off and turned it back on it has not reappeared for a month now.

I know your problem...and it always happens on the freeway. I've noticed that if I am criusing for like 20 minutes at 80 mph (or around that) steadily, the light comes on. All you do is turm off your car and turn it back on and waa laa, it's fixed. The absence of sensors causes the light to come on.

thanks for the info guys. i almost had a heart attack when it went on coz i didn't feel like buying a $290 tire if there was an unfixable leak or something...
