Is the vehicle fully stopped when you put it in reverse?

I get the same thing occasionally and everytime I take it in they say they can't recreate the problem. It happens a lot less than it used to...maybe once every 2 or 3 months. Beyond that I've had zero tranny problems. I'll wait till I get around 42,000 miles or another year and a half and then really see if there is a problem.

Hey Pointman...
I get the same problem every now and then. I think it's more pronounced when my car is not warmed up. I tried it this week... warming up vs. NOT warming up fully the car, and the "CLANK" noise when you let the clutch slowing out in Reverse is there when the car is "cold".

Also, do you park with your car in gear (1st or w/e?). I also noticed that if I park it and not leave it in 1st, I don't have that CLANK problem.

Hope this helps...

I think he's referring to the AT clunk, not an MT.
