Newby Buyer Here - 2006 G35 Coupe 63K miles for $18K

Hello guys, I am looking to buy my first car (been using a "hand me down" this whole time). This G35 coupe I saw on craigslist seems like a really good deal, what do you guys think?

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/ctd/2484803786.html

Also I want to be really thorough in buying a used car, what suggestions does everyone have in regards to getting the vehicle inspected by a third party beforehand? This car is located about a 2 hour drive from me. Should I contact local mechanics who will do an inspection for a fee? Thanks in advance.

Sincerely,
Charlie

Looks like average mileage for an 06 and judging by the pictures it looks pretty clean. A few things to do:

Request all maintenance records on car and get the Carfax and Autocheck for it. I personally trust Autocheck over Carfax. I have had problems with Carfax in the past, along with a lot of people.

There are 3rd party car inspection services you can send to check out the car, and you can request all sorts of inspections varying in detail depending on how much you're willing to pay. I've done that before and it worked out well. I used a company called CARCHEX.

Being a recenting buyer my self here are a few things i looked over.

1. If its a MT get through all the gears and make sure you don't hear any odd noises. Also ask if he replaced it or not.

2. Ask if he has service records of all the work done to the car. (lucky the guy i bought mine from did :0)

3. Check all the electronics Lights, windows, wipers, stero etc.

4. If he is local i would even ask a trusted mechanic to take a look at it for ya. Most sellers would agree to it but usually out of your pocket but well worth it.

5. Look for any odd fade in paint or any noticable damage. When i bought my car he told me the front bumper has been replace due to someone ripping it off in a accident. When you touch it you can tell that it was repainted since it has little different feel in the paint.

That's about it from me Gl with the buy. Also see if you can talk him down a little :0.

Wow, nice clean OB coupe! I would take her to Nissan and have them check it out for any issues that might exist. Having someone go thru it that's qualified can put your mind at ease. Asking for service records is a plus, hopefully the 60k mile service has been done which requires R&R of all fluids at a minimum cost of $400. CARFAX is also a good idea. Good Luck, I hope you take her home!

Pretty clean looking. Interesting he doesnt mention the intake (injen) tho.

Does seem slightly high with the price (should be closer to 17k for that milage). Also just an FYI its an AT which means its only 280 HP not 298 (was 6MT models only that got the power jump).

Otherwise do what others have said and get it all checked out but looks pretty solid.

Nah it's like $250 for all the fluids if you do it yourself.

a bit overpriced. closer to 17k but maybe thats wat the seller is looking for so he bumped the asking to 18k car looks clean. definately check to see if the 60k got done. i regret not asking and had to do it. check the treadlife of the tires. and like others said check the window motor and stereo cd changer. those are common inifiniti problems.

Alright guys thanks for the feedback. Another question, how hard is it to install an aux input to the sound system in an '06 G35 coupe?
