Service advice

The dealership is telling me that my car is due for a throttle body cleaning and the rear differential fluid should be changed. This will cost about $450. My car is an 07 coupe with about 34K miles. I haven't had a car worth servicing properly for a while so I don't know about these suggestions.

Should I get this stuff done?

Thanks guys.

Do it your self for ummmm......$50 bucks if that sh*t even $50 is too much...maybe like $40 or less in parts if you do it yourself.

Lets see 2 quarts of diff fluid is like $20 bucks for mobil 1 75w90. Take it to nissan dealer and they will charge like $60 labor. It is even simpler than an oil change even a monkey could do it..probably a grease monkey but regardless..easy. I would not worry about cleaning your throttle body at 32k miles. If you really want to clean the TB then be ready to learn the idle, relearn, ecu reset. Use something like DEEP CREEP to clean it up but honestly they just want to rape you and take your money.

Edit: I did my diff fluid with my buddy and it took like 35 mins and $18.56 for fluids. I think I bought him some beer and food but other than that is was cake and took more effort to get the car up on all 4 jack stands and level. Plan to do my tranny fluid next and that should be just as easy as a diff fluid swap. If you are in DFW area than I can help you out with sourcing parts and the labor

Thanks Faiz, I appreciate it, but I have no desire or intention to do the work myself. I live in a small apartment complex and do not have the tools or the time. I figured the throttle body service was unnecessary.

Call Nissan and ask them how much is the labor if you bring in your own diff fluid. Call around to local shops and ask them as well for the cost to do a differential fluid swap if you provide fluid. The job should take maximum 1hr and cost like $25 in parts including fluid and washers. I have heard many people get the diff fluid done for less than $100 part & labor and that is truly all you need. I would also look into tranny fluid while you are at it since they already have the car jacked up. Tranny you should only use NISSAN OEM FLUID and for Differential you can go with any GL5 fluid.

Look into finding a reputable certified nissan mechanic.
It will save you a lot of money.
Servicing is where stealerships make most of their money.
