*** Hi from a New Member! *** >>

hi guys, seems like you have a great site over here. i am currently looking to purchase a 04-06 g35 coupe 6mt and recently test drove a few. i have been reading and researching on this site but had a couple of questions for those who can help.

1. is the oil consumption in the 05-06 a widespread issue or very few were affected? if you come across one in a used lot, how can you tell if it has this problem? when i test drove the 05, the red oil sign flashed for a brief second and disappeared.

2. clutch releases pretty high up (about midway)? how can you tell if the clutch is going bad? the reason i ask is there was a lot of vibration and rumble in the shifter while driving (wasn't sure if this was normal).

3. dealer wants to charge $850 dealer prep fee and $350 destination charge. is this typical in buying used cars? this sounds crazy to me. i usually purchase from private owners so don't have too much experience buying from dealers.

4. should 03's be avoided since they are first year model? i read that this year had a TON of TSB's and possible recalls. not sure how true this is.

In all honesty, i love the way how the car looks and sounds, but was a bit disappointed with the power delivery. i was expecting a lot more feeling of power and torque =/ i used to own a z32 na and tt, but i need back seats now. i was also a bit disappointed with how the manual transmission felt. very on/off and jerky, but i read this is normal.

in any case, any last minute advice you can give me from top of your head when inspecting this on the lot and test driving? thanks for any input.

a lot of 05-06 rev up manual only motors have the oil consumption problem..

stay away from the 05 u test drove if the oil light flashed on and off..

dealer prep fee sounds like a crock of sheeyat.. don't pay for that ...

i used to have an 03 and didn't have any problems..

I believe the oil light comes on when the pressure is low, but in reality we need one that warns when the oil level is low

If light flashed the car is essentially out of oil (caused the pressure to drop) so if it flashed I'd stay far away from that car.
