ABS system fail

today i just got my new tires put on the rear and front of the car after they were done i drove out of the lot put it in second going about 30mph put it in neutral and heard a ticking sound ticking with the movement of the tire coming from the front passenger side of the car tried hitting my brakes to slow down and it felt like abs kicked on even when im stopping slowly i also heard the abs pump consantly going.
After driving a little further abs vdc and slip light come on and brakes work fine just without abs and traction control i pulled over shut my car of popped my hood and my brake fluid was above max (because 2 weeks prior to this i did a brake and caliper change) so i closed my hood turned my car on no more vdc abs or slip light on. drive again and same thing keeps occuring... anyone have a clue??

If you have a staggered setup (coupe?) check to make sure that the narrower rims are up front, and the wider rims are in the back. Also make sure the tire sizes make sense where they are...

well what happened was my rear tires were bad so my friend gave me a set of 225/ r18's and theres suppose to be 245's on the rear so i put those on and the front tires went bad so what they did was put 245/r18's on the front rims and put those in the rear and put the rear 225's in the front. so there the right tire sizes for spec of the g35 but they didnt know the rims were different sizes..

There is a bolt/nut on the rotor and a groove in the rims, that PREVENTS idiots from installing the front rims in back and viceversa.

In order to install the rears in the front, the idiot would have had to remove the bolt from the front rotor. Unless your car previously had aftermarket wheels then maybe this could happened.

you need to put your front back to the front and your rears back to the rear.

The abs sensors calculate how many rotations per min your wheels make based on the stock tire size and rims. There's some tolerances built in for people that go slightly different size tires and rims.

since you dratically undersized the rear tire and over sized the front tires.

The abs computer probably thought you were losing traction in the front and confused the crap out of itself.

Keep in mind this a rwd luxury sports coupe not a fwd economy car. You can't route stagger rims like that without putting in the appropriate tire sizes.

Its also dangerous to put undersized tires in the rear on a rwd car.

The wheels are not different sizes on the 2003. The factory just put different size tires on the front and rear. Also there is no stud on the rotor because the wheels are the same size.

Wbama is right. my tires were all the same size becase i switchd the my fronts and rears back over so it was original rear rims in the rear and original fornts in the front... now that i did that the ABS system is still doing the same thing. when i let off the gas theres a slight tic sound (
) then after driving for 2 minutes all the lights still go off. this is probably because i have 225/40's in the front and 245/45's in the rear... but thats not a big difference?? is there a way to reset the abs so it can calculate for these size tires??? or what should i do cuz all 4 tires are new and i dont wanna buy new ones again..

VDC stays happy when the rolling diameter of the tires F/R is w/in 3% of each other. Your tires are 25.1" tall in the front and 26.3" tall in the rear. That's a difference of 4.7% which will never work on your car. You can't re-program the computer so you'll have to get new tires either front or rear to close the gap.

Here's a cool calculator to help you see what size tires will work well together. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
