2004 G35 headlight change
Just wanted to ask .... what would I need to change in my headlights to have them look like a 2006 bi-xenon HID G35 headlight ??
WITHOUT having to spend $500-600 for the actual bi-xenon HIDs.
Should I change the ballest and bulb ?? to 6000K ?? for both the DRL and headlights ??
Thanks for the info

By look, do you simply mean the design when switched off? Or the beam pattern at night?
Changing the ballast/bulb wouldn't really accomplish much, as the 2006 version still uses the same ballast and a 4300k bulb.
To simply achieve the look, minus the bi-xenon function, you'd need to replace the upper complex reflector with a projector beam lens. You'd also need a D2S bulb to replace the D2R bulb.
If we're talking beam pattern, you'd need a bi-xenon projector beam lens to replace the upper complex reflector.
The OEM housing has some sort of relay which switches power to the halogen bulb, and you'd need to have that power switched instead to the actuator for the bi-xenon cutoff shield.
If you're going for the full bi-xenon route, you're best off just getting the entire assemblies...I used to drive a BMW, so $500 for both pairs of headlights with bulbs installed seems like a screaming good deal.

^ as stated above, changing the bulbs or ballasts won't accomplish much of anything. The earlier models (pre 06+) use a reflector based headlight, and the bi-xenon are projector based. Changing the bulbs will not improve your light output, cut-off pattern, or flicker.. it would be the same as it is now, with maybe a slightly bluer hue (if you get 6000k bulbs).
edit: And if you save up, paying $500-600 for a set of new projector lights is a joke. If I bought a pair from a dealership here I am sure the price would be closer to $1600 or more. Heck, I remember when I got a HID kit for my Integra.. It was a steal at just over $400 (which would now be worth around $60.00 on ebay). You really had to pay to play with HID before they became the rage/standard.

you can buy them new from the online nissan dealerships on ebay for $500.
Closest way to get 06 projector performance at the cheapest price, would be doing a hid retrofit with either fx or tsx projectors. If you do tsx or s2000 projectors, you will get a superior beam compared to the oem 06 head lights.
