Smile Window Tint CA

I was thinking about getting window tint on my 06 Black G35 coupe. I don't know what percentage to get. I know the legal limit for the front is 70% and then the back windows/shield don't have a limit. I go to college and the campus police are pretty big dicks.
I was thinking about getting something like 50% on the front window
35% on the back side and 15% on the back windshield.

I would love some input and pictures.

Thanks

I have 15% on the complete back ones and 50% on the 2 fronts, its been on there for 2 years and cops never bothered me once. Dont be scared to roll your windows down before he see's you if you think you might get caught. Good luck.

For the fronts, I run 40% on my G35 and 50% on my IS350. I have never been hassled about my tint before and I frequent areas which are notorious for "dick" cops. I'd choose 50% to be safe.

Tint is one of those things where they don't hassle you, but obviously it's illegal and they can and will hassle you if you **** them off.

Just don't drive like a douche. Drive nicely while on campus, go the speed limit or with traffic flow, don't accelerate really hard, etc. Because if you drive like a dick but are not technically breaking any laws, they'll just write you up for the tint to "get you." Drive nice, and they'll be focusing on the guys who ARE driving like dicks.

I do 80mph on the freeway on the way to school, but the second I get off it's the speed limit or just 5 over until my car is parked, and same thing until I'm back on the freeway - I drive past a Sheriff's station TWICE a day (once on the way to school, once on the way back), and have yet to be hassled for tint anywhere near my school.

Usually with tinting, the police won't pull you over just for them. You'd have to do something to catch their attention or commit another offense and they'll add the tints to whatever your offense is. At least that's what it's like here in NV, but I'm assuming most states are the same; I think most officers have better things to do than pull people over just for tints, unless they're being complete assclowns or really, really bored.

I went with 35% all around. As far as I know tint on the front windows are illegal no matter how light in CA. I have had my front windows tinted on all the cars I've owned (91 MR2 turbo, 92 SE-R, 05 Pathfinder and my 03 coupe). Nothing ever darker than 35%. Only pulled over in the SE-R (3 times after it was lowered with rims) and just recently with the G (just lowered). IMO it depends on the cops and what your car looks like. I've had the Pathfinder for 6 yrs now and the cops dont even notice. The G i got pulled over after a year. Luckily my cousin works for law enforcement so I just got it signed off without having to remove it. Norcal cops are dicks (especially the ones in Fremont). You cant go wrong with 35% all around. I think it looks clean like that.

IN cali it's illegal to have them on your car but everyone has it. If the cops want to be a d*ck they'll pull you over if they are having a bad day.

Any tint on the fronts in CA is illegal. I went with the second to the lightest just so that im somewhat visible at night.

As others said, ANY tint on the driver/passenger windows is illegal in Cali. I have limo tint all around and I was fine for about 3 years, CHP actually pulled me over on the freeway and cited me strictly because of my tint. I wasnt driving crazy either (had my mom & dad with me haha).

After getting the ticket paid for, I just had them redone 3 days ago. It's a game of chance. I could get pulled over tomorrow or 5 years from now. Or never. I love my privacy - it's a risk you gotta be willing to take.

I got 35% for the front windows and 5% in the back and cops roll right past my car look at it and just keep driving. My tint guy said I will get a ticket for having 35% in the front but i'v had my car tinted for almost 2 months now and I have yet to get a ticket. The tint maybe illegal but if u don't drive like a dick cops don't even bother u. But like the guy above me said its chance plus my interior is kinda light so the 35% in the front doesn't look so dark.

Sorry, this is incorrect information....^....we're allowed to have 30% tint on the drivers/passengers door windows as long a 70% of the lite get thru. Having your sunroof shade open also helps allow more light into your cabin. You could go with 15% on the back window, any darker and you'll have issues seeing at night. I've had this setup since 2K04 and never been stopped.

I've had 15%, 20% & 35% on the front windows.
25% was the best in my opinion.
It was dark enough during the day without drawing attention from the cops and I could see at night while driving.

15% looked awesome but cops noticed (2 tix) & driving at night was a little challenging.
35% just way too light, imo.

Here's a similar link with pics.

35% front two and limo back three. bought the car with those tints but goin 20% in a few weeks. you can clearly see the passenger/driver with 35% tint. 20% is definitely the way to go if you want more privacy.
