Unhappy Help!!!

For a couple weeks now I have noticed that my G35 has been having this humidity smell in it. I checked around one day while it was raining, and didn't notice anywhere that water was leaking in. I did notice however the next day, that in the driver's side footwell, the rug was soaked. I have no clue how the water is getting there and was wondering if you guys have any suggestions about what i should do? I have a 2005 G35 coupe with 62K miles. Thanks for your help.

There might be an issue with the AC drain. Check for blockage. The drain plug should be in the passenger footwell, under the carpet.

Have you replaced the cabin filter yet?

It might not be the source of the humid smell, but it is part of the air flow.

Get the OEM charcoal filters.

You probably have a drain line clogged (rain water or AC) or a bad door\window seal. Do you have a sunroof? These are notorious for clogging on many cars. You can rule out the AC by checking for dampness in the carpets as you mentioned on days when it does not rain and you use the AC. If it gets wet, it is likely the AC drain line as Massios mentioned. Otherwise, grab a large container of water and perform the following tests in the order indicated. Look for a wet floor after each step. If you notice any, start ripping off the trim and look for debris blocking the drainage.

1. Pour water into the base of the windshield where the black slatted trim is near the windshield wipers.

2. Pour water into the channel running along each side of the roof (with the black trim strips).

3. Open the sunroof and pour water into channels just outside of the rails that the glass rides on.

4. Check all the seals around the door (the actual door and the opening of the body). Close the door and use a hose (no nozzle) to spray all around the door and glass.

You should be able to find the culprit with these test.
