connecting amp to battery

hey guys, i posted in the tech section and never got a response i really understood. how do you guys connect the and aftermarket amp power wire to the battery? the stock positive terminal is tight and any ring i try to slip in doesnt fit. currently i have bare wire touching the positive terminal and i know this isn't the best way. so...any help would greatly be appreciated. pics would be great too. thanks.

There was this external case thing over the positive terminal in my car and had a very obvious place to place the ring terminal. I bought the car used with a viper alarm installed so I'm not sure if that's stock but it should be very simple as others said.

I hope you have an inline fuse or fuseblock on that wire... somewhere near the battery in the engine bay so you can get to it easily.
