What do YOU think? Rate! & Help! =)

Hi guys, I've finally got to focusing on performance mods under the bay

Does anybody have any professional opinion on this list of modifications I want to make? (changes, if they'll work together, etc)

- 5/16 iso thermal copper motordyne plenum spacer (no mrev2 since im a 5at)
- Stillen engine damper
- oem Z tube w/stillen high-flow intake (has the heat shield)
- SxExCx's grounding kit
- NGK laser iridium plugs (im about to hit 60k miles...nothings too soon )

So, if I were to get a professional tune with these above mods, what would you say would be the hp & tq gains?
I am a bit skeptical about exhaust modifications b/c i want to keep that beautiful exhaust note..any modifications i can do that would not only increase performance, but amplify/keep/make even better the curret exhaust note I have? like motordyne art pipes or anything?

I've been stock all of this time, and its time for a change

Thanks guys!

I am not the right person to discuss mods, but just wanted to say that I sat completely stock for three years, allowing myself to go through phases without actually wasting the money yet. At this point, there is no doubt in my mind on how I want my car to look and feel. As for you, I'm not saying wait a few years, but, when you say "I've been stock all of this time", I really don't know if you mean just a few months, or years like me, since you only joined this site in June of this year.

Allow yourself to do a ton of research and go through your head what you may or may not regret. Good luck and have fun :-D

haha, thanks a lot man, I've had the car for almost 2 years already, and have had so much fun with it...just getting used to it now if you know what I mean
so yes, the modding bug has hit me. I not only love seeing the work pay off, but installing everything and doing the actual work too.
i'm still waiting for some performance-savvy people to chip in their knowledge.
btw, i've done a great amount of research for 2 weeks. (summer job has ended 2 weeks ago, extra spending $; I'm a student haha)

I think most engine mods for the G are just for the hell of it (aside from some $5-6 grand FI build). The power gains from doing them aren't good for much. Not that I'm saying don't do anything... just don't expect a race car afterwords. I'd personally put money into appearance mods for this car (rims, coilovers, etc..).

Great choice of mods, every thing you listed will make you G even better and more fun to drive. They're mods you'll be able to feel and hear. I would add BERK'S HFCs in place of art pipes cause I dislike stinky exhaust. With the HFCs at least you'll be legal and you can pick up 8 RWHP by making the switch. Good Luck....

Thanks Gary, I'm just skeptical about either the leak/hissing problem people have with the Berk HFC's...I've heard that art pipes would be a better alternative, even though I am still elaning towards them, just haven't confirmed that I'd get them lol.
And i know it won't be a racecar, im doing it all for the feel and response of the car.
i love feeling the torquey jerk of the G, i just want to enhance it

Your best bet for enhancing the kick of the car would be:

MD spacer
Exhaust (I recommend MD for proven gains)
MD ART pipes or an HFC of some sort
Tune

I would think all of that would net you somewhere around a 25-30 HP gain and after that fugettaboutit if you're trying to get more power. Turbo or supercharging your ride are your only other options at that point w/o doing a full engine rebuild or swap.

I know i won't make this car THAT fast keeping the stock n/a motor with bolt on's. I just want to have more fun..responsiveness/speed/sound.

thanks for the input now to find a g35 tuning shop in the mid-atlantic region..

Do you not need an aftermarket ecu for a tune?

Good list of mods.
Since u want to keep the stock exhaust note u might want to add an HR y-pipe to the list.
It will be a slight improvement with regards to throttle response.
U can get em used for around $100-120 and it takes about 20 min to swap it out if u have the right tools.

Looks like a good NA build. Have links to MD exhaust dyno?

I've heard great things about OSIRIS, as mentioned.

I plan to do a baseline dyno this weekend on a stock revup and then go back for a run with MREV2 + spacers. Will post once I'm done.

its gonna depend which tuner but he won't hit those numbers. he should be able to gain 15 hp with tune on top of his increased baseline though. but yes those are the best mods to go with!!! start buying everything on ur list and this one

HFCs aren't legal in most states, but who cares.
HFCs rarely throw codes and they will pass a smog test.
Unless the smog test u go to is really strict and visually checks the cats you'll be fine with HFCs.
