Issue with tire pressure sensor?
Issue with tire pressure sensor?
Perhaps someone can help me or give an idea of what they think is going on.
First some background, I have custom 18 inch wheels that replaced the original 17's on my 04 G35 coupe several years ago. Never had a problem with the tire pressure sensors. Been running 35 psi ever since without issue.
Now I just replaced the tires again and the tire pressure sensor comes on consistently after some time - maybe half an hour or so into driving. But restarting the car turns the light off and keeps it off unless I'm driving for a while again.
The tire shop transferred all 4 sensors when replacing the tires. They reset the sensors twice - so the car knows which sensor is in which wheel. They also used their device to show that all 4 sensors are operational and are reporting the correct tire pressure....
Could a sensor be damaged and still report an accurate reading? According to them, a bad sensor wouldn't report a pressure at all. I doubt it's a problem with the car's cpu since the problem started after replacing the tires - but as far as they can tell - all the sensors are in working order.
Is my only option to take it to an Infiniti (or more convenient local Nissan) dealer? The tire shop told me that if the dealer found sensor to be damaged - that they would replace it.

Why is the tire store transfering your sensors when you're just getting tires?? I'm on my 4th set of wheels and that's the only time the sensors were moved and it didn't matter where they were located side to side or back to front. Tire stores shouldn't be messin with your sensors, that's part of your problem. When the sensor warning shows up on your dash make sure that you have at least 35 psi in each tire. The warning comes on at 20 lbs....FYI
