So which tranny is stronger, 6mt or 5at? Im interested in doing a 75/100 shot on a leased vehicle. Will the 5at survive this? Id prefer an auto being that this car will be used for day to day travel.

I have not done research on our specific trannies, but, generally speaking, a manual is going to withstand more power than an automatic. This is in stock form of course - an automatic can be built to withstand huge power and torque. Even with 100 shot, I don't think either tranny should be an issue. Of course it depends somewhat on how you drive it as well. Make sure you do your homework before proceeding. Again, I have not done specific research to adding juice to our cars, but, I'm guessing you'll need injectors and a pressure regulator at the very least. Maybe they sell it with the kit as a whole. I've not purchased a kit for a new enough car that is fuel injected. Good luck. Sounds fun. Be careful.

Question is, how much torque will a 75/100 shot produce at the crank? The auto tranny in our cars will withstand around 330 ft/lbs of torque on a normal basis because it was originally designed for the VK series V8 engine in the Q45. I'm sure the tolerances were built higher than this to ensure reliability ut you always flip the coin when you start modding a car (especially FI).

The 1990-96 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo had 300HP with the 5MT, and the automatic Twin Turbo only had 280HP (as best as I can remember) since Nissan was concerned the automatic wouldn't be able to handle 300HP over the long-term. That just shows that manuals are stronger than automatics in general.

Keep in mind that the G autos have been FAR MORE RELIABLE than the 6mt. I can actually count the # of tranny failures on one hand vs the 6mt people who have had multiple trannies replaced (go to 350zdriver.com). The 05s are supposedly better and it seems the newest iterations have had much less problems though. i would research further before any decisions though.
