I hate to say, I am currently experiencing a problem with my new G35 coupe. First off, let me just say I am in love with my car. Caribbean blue, 6MT, aero, premium. Trouble is, for 2 weeks now, I grind gears going to 3rd.
I took it to the dealer last week and they are going to replace the entire tranny on Monday, April 28th. Just so everyone knows, MY tranny is going to Infiniti Corporate for study by Inifiniti Engineering. I'll keep you all posted as to the developements.
Either way, I am pleased with both the car, and the dealer.

wow, another one. mine is a 5AT, but half the owners here are having problems with their manual tranny. So many problems with the car, is it just because this is the first year of production or what?

What I find is the car will ...seem to grind ... or more so bump into gear... not OUT ..but into.
ONLY if .. you shift a certain way.
Let me clarify
from first take the car up to around 3 k slowly or more so normally... clutch in
and slowly .... softly like put er in second....and try and get the clutch out as fast as possible ...essentially before 2k and the shift and car movement will be effortless.
Perfect gradual shift, same thing give or take a few k up to 4k will result in smooth shifting.
what I notice is that any hard shifting or not smooth will bump or semi grind the gear ... NOT ALWAYS but I think its normal
I have a wee bit over 1000 k on mine ...so takin er easy.... and I dont really care if my tranny is replaced or not, thats why I bought a new car.
(useless post ..... sorry)

got 1500 miles on mine and the 6MT is just fine.....infact its smoother than ever now thats its broken-in
Shifting into 2nd and 3rd requires you to let off the gas a little longer than normal, because its such a short-throw that the engine doesnt have time to slow down, plus you have to make sure you press the clutch in ALL the way
shifting into 4th, 5th, and 6th can be done in .2 seconds with absolutely no jerks
its just the short-throw shifter plus the difference in the first 3 ratios, so that it requires you to shift a bit slower into 2nd and 3rd, maybe takes .5 seconds

2200 miles on mine. No problems yet. Shifter notchiness is just about gone, syncro's whine exotically and shift are smooth and solid. The jury may still be out on these first production tranny's. I hope the problem does not get worse and Inifiniti continues to work on a solution.

The 6MT trannys are made for OLD BORING RETIREES....When an Enthusiasts gets on the car the way its meant to be driven, the gears and synchros hate you. Im onmy second tranny...and just last week when I went in for an oil change the dealer told me regretfully that the tranny I have in my car right now is a "temporary tranny" until hopefully by the end of this summer Infiniti will let out the good tranny that doesnt have all these problems and Hopefully a few double cone synchros for smoother shifts regardless...that would be nice...So I am eagerly awaiting my "Permanent Tranny!"

cool so they are attempting to fix the syncro problem..... I think it was dumb of them to put single cone synchros in such a potent vehicle
time to grind some gears and get me a new trans!
just kidding hahaha

Learn how to drive, and then maybe the tranny won't hate you as much.
My tranny works just fine whether my shift points are at 3,000 RPM's, or 6,300 RPM's.

you 2 really need to STFU, you are wasting my time, take your fights elsewhere.
As for you grinding only when driving hard, obviously that means you arent shifting correctly. you need to fully disengage the clutch before AND after shifting, especially at full throttle!
The clutch presses in very far, maybe you should adjust your seat position forward so that you can reach it comfortably.
