So about 2 weeks ago my intelligent key stopped working but I was still able to lock and unlock the doors with the button on the door and start the car. But every time the key fob was in range of the car the trunk would automatically open. Sometimes when I would walk by the car with the key fob in my pocket the trunk would open on its own. As you can imagine this could get annoying after a while. So I took the battery out of the key fob so that the trunk would stop opening and I've been using the actually key to lock and start the car. If I reprogrammed the key fob do you guys think it would solve my problem?

 

Reprogramming would be my last resort. First make sure the battery is still good. Check out an existing TSB on I-key below, scroll down to ITB08-051. Good maintenance info in there. Could be just a stuck button press or something.

The dreaded key fob trunk virus be upon ye..yarrrr.

 

I replaced the battery and I'm still having the same problem.

 

Keyfobs are available for cheap via ebay... if all else fails, buy a replacement. Reprogramming takes no time at all. I bought a spare master key & keyfob when I purchased my G since it only came with one FOB and one key. I had a local locksmith cut the key and program it, and I did the key fob myself.
