Flywheel recommendations on '03 coupe?
Hi all
Great forum. I've been lurking for some time and just recently signed up. I'm hoping one of you experts can give me some advice.
I have an '03 coupe. I don't race, I don't do any kind of hardcore driving in the car though I do love driving the thing. I have about 91k miles on the car and am getting my engine rebuilt at the dealership due to bad piston rings and improperly seating valves. As long as the engine is torn apart, I'm going to be replacing my clutch as it doesn't cost me any additional labor.
My intention was to go with stock everything as I don't need any performance upgrades given the way I drive the car. The dealer quoted me a pretty decent price for the stock clutch, however the stock flywheel is over $1100. The info I've gotten both from the dealership and from various forums is that the stock flywheel can't or shouldn't be resurfaced.
So I'm looking at an aftermarket flywheel. I've read that many aftermarket flywheels can create clutch chatter which I'd like to minimize. From reading the various forums it looks like the JDM Nismo flywheel is the least offensive when it comes to chatter, and it's also not terribly expensive with prices ranging from $450-$550 online. Do any of you have any experience with this flywheel?
Thanks in advance!
