Engine Questions

So, as the previous owner of my G decided that he would treat my engine like the Chinese treat protesters, I'm looking to get a new engine installed within the next few years and have some questions.

First off, what is the latest year engine I can put in my 04 G35 Coupe with Manual Transmission? Surely I can't just get a wrecked engine from a 2010 G35 and put it in there?

Second of all, what would be the best way to get a hold of a new engine? Is there anywhere to actually buy a new engine or should I look for low millage engines on wrecked G's?

Thanks, Tyler

im replacing my motor now and from what ive gathered from here you can use any engine from 03 and 04 and from auto non rev up 05 to 07. i bought mine from ebay from an auto recycling yard in canada. 04 sedan motor with only 6600 miles on it. i was kinda on a budget but if you want theres a seller on ebay that has a website where he sells remanufactured engines with 0 miles on them for just under 2k shipped. just a little more work but probly well worth if you have some time to save and prepare.

Well, would you happen to know the guy on Ebay or any way I could reach him? I would prefer to do it right and get a re-manufactured engine.

Go here for a fresh short block that is built for future abuse or a complete longblock if your engine is 100% SHOT. The ebay ones are rebuilt so that means only parts that were damaged were replaced. With the engines shown below the parts were all replaced with aftermarket forged parts. You can get oversize piston to help keep oil consumption down to a bare minimum.

Engine packages are customizable to match your goals. Here are two samples of common configurations:

Stage 1 Short Block packages start at $2765 and include CP Pistons, Eagle Rods, ACL Bearings, machining, align hone, balance, blueprint and pro assembly!

Stage 1 Long Block packages start at $3690 and include the Stage1 Short Block, ARP L19 Head Studs, ARP Main Studs, Cometic Head Gaskets, Mill & Clean Heads and assembly.

Scam or no scam they still have a 12 month unlimited mile warranty. Never dealt with them but at least you have a decent amount of time to figure out any issues. Although to be honest if I had a little more money I problem would have gone the route above. Sounds like more of a legit bang for the buck
