The V1 radar LOCATOR (only one in the market) advantage is huge! Without knowing WHERE, what type, and how many threats you have, it's hard to respond appropriately and have peace of mind.

One example, consider cops are increasingly setting up speed traps staggering themselves on the highway. Great deterrent, especially for those with just a detector. While most drivers are thinking they just passed the threat their detector picked up, the V1 tells you about that threat and the next one or multiples ahead.

For those still in doubt, buy them both and take their 30-day trial. Just remember, the $100+ you save on a detector is nothing compared to a ticket, insurance hike and/or peace of mind.

What are you a salesman? x50 has what type and how many threats. One example, consider cops are increasingly setting up speed traps staggering themselves on the highway. Its amazing really! Ka || <- one strong one weak
I just passed the one that getting weaker, and I need to slow down for the one thats getting stronger.

You don't need arrows, when the threat is strong you slow down, when its weak and getting stronger, its getting closer, slow down. Two 3 or 4 threats, slow down.

Golly ge, there's a threat behind me, its strong, but who cares its behind me, there's a thread beside me, since I'm moving forward, I'm only going to slow down when the top arrow lights up. neato! Thank God for those arrows I paid 200+ for, or I wouldn't know which cops to ignore!!! [opinion of the v1 driver]

Say you have 6 threats, 2 in front, 1 right, 1 left, and 2 behind. Does all your arrows light up, and which ones do you ignore? Now you only know of 6 threads in all directions. Is that 1 left, 1, behind, and 4 in front. or 4 behind 1 right and 1 in front. Wow those arrows sound great! Where do I sign!

Boy that ruins my state-of-mind not know if 2 are in front or not. Wow!

LOCATOR and WHERE are in all caps above to underscore V1's competitive advantage; I never said other detectors didn't provide type and quantity of threat. And your rationalization for not needing/wanting arrows is laughable. Why would I want to try to figure out if my audible warning is going up or down vice simply looking at arrows to provide immediate situational awareness? Every second counts. For more info, read John Boyd's OODA loop or talk to a marine.

Every seconds counts, it beeps you slow down, then look. Oh its only 4 ka
either to my right or my left? Better look both ways! Damn he got me!

Your arguement is laughable. You can't justify the arrows. So what if a cop in in front of back, side to side, they are all threats and you treat all threats the same, by slowing down!
It seems by your argument that the LOCATOR and WHERE arrows should be called ignorant indicators, that let me choose where to look and what to ignore before slowing down.
Now, try again, tell me why I need the arrows?

Maybe it's just me, but I for one like to know all the info I can get about anyone gunning for me, especially the Who and Where aspects. The V1 gives you more of an opportunity to discover both of those if you use the directional indicators.

If you chose to drive around and have to slow down for any kind of alert that goes off and be looking all around trying to figure out whats up then that is your decision, but I prefer to have the directional information so I can very easily learn about the habits and patterns of the local law enforcement. The more you know about them the better you can predict and react in the future when maybe your detector isn't picking anything up like the newer POP stuff.

In other words, there is a difference between soley relying on the detector to save your butt being ignorant to the details, and using the detector to educate yourself about how the law enforcement behaves and operates. I think the saying "know your enemy" would be appropriate here.

Bottom line, if having a locator vice detector matters, V1's your only choice. I'm not trying to convince you. I just want the facts out in public discourse so people can make an informed decision. Informed decision ... what V1 allows me to make best.

But if they are in multible locations you still don't know where? Or how many where? And mine doesn't go off all-the-time(no false alarms at all) its always been a cop.

It just seems to me like the v1 people are treating these arrow like magic? Besides if it is a false alarm at you 12:00 do you not slow down? False alarms make the arrows light up too!

When my x50 starts chirping the cops aren't in sight.(like the v1) Yet when they max the detector I've never had trouble locating them.

How does the arrows tell you if its false or not when you can't see your enemy?

I'm not saying the v1 isn't a great detector, it just seems like those arrows have a lot of holes in them.

I think these are great tools, and sure, "know your enemy" it just seems like arrows are a little gimic that makes it different from the others.

i dont have a V1 or an 8500, but in any case if my radar detector goes off on K/Ka band, i'm slowing down regardless if i know where the signal is coming from or not. plus, around here cops dont have very advanced speed traps. all they do is sit behind a bridge or guardrail with some of their friends ready to pounce down an on ramp.

i can respect your desire to know where the radar signals are coming from, but in my case i'm just not that "picky" (for lack of a better word). i love driving fast, don't get me wrong, but the bottom line is if my radar detector goes off i'm slowing down, regardless if the signal is coming from in front, behind, or from a spaceship.

But see what's you've done, now this isn't about the arrows. Which is the only thing the v1 has( but not over) the escort!

Can 10 magizines be wrong? Or is C&D being paid?
Oh and found this: That C&D report came in Feb 2002, they said it was a "tie" two months later after facing heat about being biased!

mizzoutiger:

Send this thread into V1, maybe they'll give you something nice, like more arrows for defending them to the death!

My last link above (evaluating radar tests) speaks to your first point. As to C&D "tie," where's the report/source?

Maybe you should hop on over to the V1 website, he explains it all there better than I could.

One small bit that I can explain fairy well: if the V1 is picking up something from the sides, or maybe a weak signal from behind all of a sudden, you can be pretty sure it's either a false or is no longer a threat, so I usually don't slow down but still remain alert and maybe make a lane switch to block the gun or some other defensive maneuver.

I have been using this method since my first V1 and haven't gotten a ticket yet. Here I'm able to accurately predict and react to a probable false right away and you're slowing down every time because you just plain don't know, and this is just one example of how you can put the directional information to use, there are many others.

In cases where there are multiple signals, most of the time one will be real and the others probably a false. The strongest will be indicated by a flashing arrow, so many times it's easy to tell the real threats from falses even with multiples going off at the same time.

To me this is quite valuable information to have and is why I think the V1 is superior to the others. I don't think I could go back to something that makes me guess where my threats are coming from, I've borrowed many models and feel under-armed compared to the feeling I have with the V1.
