Before installing did you check the crossover to see if there was the dreaded restriction HKS is now famous for? HFCs or ART pipes will change the way your coupe sounds, it's just a matter of how illegal you want to be...
Gary
How would I go about checking the crossover?

Disconnect the mid piping from the H-pipe section and shine a flashlight into the H-pipe section. I imagine that if you had the a little bit of crossover pipe in the path of exhaust flow that it wouldn't make a night and day difference in how loud it would be.

But there's no way to fix this issue is there. Other than having piping made.

If it's the crossover problem you could have that section welded out for a Maganaflow X-pipe section. If it is just some sort of debris by chance I'm sure you could get it out.

Other mods? An intake + HFC/TP will make it louder.
I didn't do any mods to my HKS exhaust and it has always been loud on my car. My first configuration was CAI + HKS, not too loud but louder then stock. Then added headers and HFC's which really opened it up, still wish I had the sound of that setup. Currently I'm running straight pipes and its definitely noisy.

The crossover restriction in my HKS system was over an inch, in a 2.5" pipe that's major in my book. Not to mention it made a weird noise at WOT! The Magnflow x-pipe was the answer but correct installation requires a talented muffler mechanic...like mine!

I have the Stillen Z tube already installed and I definitely hear it over the exhaust. My exhaust is really hard to hear when I drive. I'm going to get a video of a drive by and in cabin. By the way I remember it being much more crisp. The exhaust note I hear now almost sounds muffled, or... I don't know it just doesn't sound great. I am disappointed for sure.

The x pipe is a replacement for part of the h pipe? Maybe just have custom straight pipes made? Do any of you have a before / after of the X pipe installation (video / audio / pictures)?
