is it possible that i can get the clutch repaired and not completely replaced or does it normally need replacing?

just get a new OEM clutch, its $75 for the clutch disk. I doubt your flywheel is bad (which is the most expensive part)
labour is about 6-8 hrs, I paid $600 canadian for mine last yr
$400 is amazingly cheap in my opinion

Pricing on labor just depends on who you go to and if you can get them to work a deal for you or just pay regular pricing. Also if you search the forums you can find shops that are close to you that specialize in VQ. I have 5 shops in the area that I can go to for all my work and then friends who do it on the side with lots of experience.
This is a sample of one shop that is local that was advertising a $499 install and I am sure you can negotiate a deal if you buy their parts and get labor from them.

I just put mine in last weekend as well. 750 from CZP for the Jim Wolf package. Labor/trans fluid/etc for $350 and was done in uder 3 hours. Sure beats laying on your back and doing it.

I have a receipt from the PO of my car for the clutch that was put in. Was a factory clutch with labor and was 800 out the door.

Mines have a loud sound to when depressed, there's a DIY fix around here for that.
Is that what's making you think the clutch I's going out?
Is it slipping?
