Break in

Hey, guys is it ok to break in a new G35 coupe by driving it 5-6 hours straight on the highway going at 60 MPH. I am planning to buy my car out of town and then driving it back home. I have heard that you should not drive constantly at one speed because that can hurt the engine down the road. What do you guys think?

You must have nervs of steal to drive that car 60 miles per hour constant. If you can do it then i got a lot of respect for you even though im drunk right now. Questions like this makes me laugh

lol, and there you have your answer gnut...."no its not ok." i hope u weren't serious about doing this. but if u are, the manual says keep it under 4k rpm, but i did about 2-3k rpm and 50-55mph for the first 1000-3000 miles on my G. and i never kept it at constant rpm for a prolonged period of time. ur gonna be putting too much stress on the engine. u gotta let it stretch and start off light first before u start hitting it hard. its just like when u start lifting weights for the first time. u don't just jump into the 200lb barbell first, u stretch (warm-up) and then start light with some of the free weights to build up ur muscle/stamina and get used to it first.

That doesn't "stress" the engine, the engine can handle that, and some people would say break it in hard.

The BIG NO NO, was you sealed/seated your seals at 4000+ rpm, which could mean leaking, performance and fuel econ. loss at anything less than what you broke it at! In your case anyhting less than 60mph!!!

Break it in by the 'book' bro. Nissan knows what's best for it's engines.

dudes!!!!!!!

I peeled out of the infinti parking lot & never looked back. Break in................ hah!!! I've never really bought into the break in theory on new modern engines. But I do add Slick 50 or Prolong with my 1st oil change at 2-3k miles, also I take it easy after initial start-up until the car is warmed up some. I've had my g for 2 years & 1 month now, 15k miles later no problems & strong engine. I did this with mt 90 Mustang GT(not known for there realiability). Never any engine trouble after 60k miles, when I traded her in. My $0.02.
