I'm running 225/40/19 on an 8.5" rim in the front and it fits just fine. Gives the tiniest of stretch.

Get Spacers to be safe!!

This is one instance where I'd recommend spacers, that offset is really bad. The inside lip of your wheel will actually rub on your suspension in tight turns and jerk the steering wheel out of your hands...scary ****

^ you positive on that? I know a few sedans that ran 8.5 +40 (given the 2mm) and the clearance from hub to strut is the same on coupes and sedans.

Just wondering if you know if from experience or not.

I wouldn't have made a comment without first hand knowledge of the situation. My first set of Volks had an offset of +42 and I ran 245s on the 9" rim. Going thru tight turns during canyon runs the inside of the wheel would rub the suspension and jerk the wheel out of my hand. First time this happened was on a freeway on ramp and I wasn't going slow, to have the wheels jerk out of your hand gets your attention in an instant. Sold those Volks and bought a set with the correct offset...problem solved!
