so theres this weird smell thats coming out of my engine bay that I can smell while im in my car. it happens when i hit 3-4k rpm or more...

I changed the rubber coupling part (the part between the ztube and the air filter housing) and it feels like its happened ever since i did that (could be co-incidence) since my old one had a tear in it, but it should be simple plug and play. the rubber fits over the tube and the air filter housing tightly... unless i mighta hit something when i was trying to remove/put it back in (it was kinda bitch)..

anyone have any ideas?

i dont know my scents well so i cant really tell whats the smell off...

 

Does it smell like tar ? Mine does it when i turn the Heater on but thats just because the cars been sitting on a car lot forever .

 

I honestly not sure what tar smells like lol. but yea, another point is its also started happening ever since i started using my heater. its the first time ive used the heater ever since i purchased my car (back in dec '10 since its always usually hot here in fl). so now 2 possible connections.

 

thats it ! Its your heater man , Im having the same issue the cars been sitting forever and hasent had a owner for about 3 years.

 

Mine was doing it every time i turned it on but it stopped sofar i just turned the blower on full blast and turn the defroster on maybe you just have some mold in there.
