But yea virginia it is a class 1 misdemeanor punishable by up to a $2500 fine and/or up to 12 months in jail which is also the same as a class 6 felony in virginia. I know because I have bee researching it to try and get out of a ticket I got for doing "86" in a 65. I say "86" because I know I was only doing 80 and the cop treated me with total disrespect
. Yea so if your ever in virginia be very careful driving through Goochland!!! cuz if you get stopped the judge there is a a-hole and loves to hand out fines.

yea basically it depends on the cop who pulls you over and his/her mood at the time.
i once got pulled over for doing 115 on I-95, in s. Fla, the cop was pissed cause he said he had to chase me for 7 miles before he caught up to me. He threated to take me to jail, but instead he gave me a ticket, which i took to court and my lawyer got dismissed. Gotto love traffic lawyer, specially mine.
I don't know about that. I was pulled over and cited for doing 105 on my way to work one time. The officer just handed me the ticket and I went to court. Everybody gasped when the judge called out the ticket for going 35 mph. over the posteed speed limit of 70 mph.
I think to a degree, it is up to the officers disgression(spelling?).

depends on your lawyer basically... ive have a few "reckless driving" tickets (in NC) reduced to non-moving violations, basically a loud muffler, expired regisration, etc... the law in NC is anything over 15 mph over is reckless driving which is a misdemanor offense.
i got pulled over going ~130 on the toll road in houston and got a written warning. Speed limit was 65 i think..... as soon as i saw the cop i started pulling over (before he flipped on his lights) and acted scared (not too hard when your shaking uncontrollably thinking you are going to jail). I think that the cop was just going home on a sunday night and didnt feel like going back downtown and doing paper work

I just got the ticket clear a week ago. My lawer too take care of it but it cost me $750 + $492 for court fee.
Over $1000 for speeding....... Not worth it at all. I can get a new exhaust. Now I have to wait. A long wait. On top of that I got two more ticket before that, in the same month. The first month that I got my car
(my lawer take care of those too $70 each and $100 court fee for one of them)Therefore I pay $1500 for tickets in my first month

Now I drive much safer and slower.

Speeding is never worth it unless you are on the track. I'm older and many, many tickets later have learned my lesson. Insurance goes up, and so does your lawyer fees. Stay safe guys/gals.
