What do u have to do as far as maintance to improve gas mileage??

 

wow, I've gotten just around 415miles from a tank driving back and forth to Orlando.
you guys must have a heavy foot.

 

Change spark plugs
Change fluids (Look into fuel efficient fluids such as 0w30 motor oil)
Tire pressure
Intake filter

Stuff like that

Also keeping your engine clean helps too. Look into Seafoam.

 

Yea you need to do a full tune up...BAD! I get 300 miles before the light comes on and that's almost all city with short trips too.

 

that's highway miles, that don't count. I was constantly getting 25mpg on my 3k mile trip from WA to FL couple years ago. In a city tho I barely get 21

 

I get around 450km (300 miles) in mostly city/bumper to bumper.
On the highway, doing 130km/h I get around 520km. It could be better if I went a bit slower

 

I did my differential oil today along with cleaning my K&N filter with no improvement, iim still averaging like 11mpg

I think i might run some seafoam through it and see what it does, also do i have to use iridium plugs in the g35? i have some basic ngks that the ngk website recommended, I will probably clean the throttle body tomorrow and see what it does, but all together, driving this thing is getting alot more expensive really quick!

 

Update us on what works! I'm due for a tuneup and want to know what items to prioritize as I'm getting ~200 miles per tank too -_-

 

That's really terrible with 11 mpg... If you've done all the proper maintenance, it shouldn't be that low

Plugs make alot of difference in my mpg, changing the differential oil also made a big difference on performance, i can chirp with my 5at with vdc off now. also, when i was changing my plugs i threw some marvel mystery oil in each cylinder and let it sit overnight. when i threw the plugs in and cranked it in the morning, a whole bunch of white smoke came out, but it idles at like 100rpm less than before, and runs amazing, Im yet to test my mpg for sure, but im pretty sure its much better.

 

Lol I only get 280 miles a tank max! That's with mostly highway driving :S

anyways... curious if you improved ur mpg.

Have you actually calculated your miles based on your total miles and how many gallons you're putting in? Everyone is suggesting things to help improve mileage that usually have a marginal effect. Poor maintenance shouldn't cut your mileage nearly in half without at least a check engine light. You would be pouring tons of smoke or driving like you're on a track constantly. Even when I drove my car hard I got 15mpg city with my overall avg at 18.4mpg.

There is an issue with some cars where the tank actually doesn't fill all the way. Mine occasionally will only fill half the tank and the pump refuses to pump any more as well as the light coming on when there is still 5-6 gal left in the tank, but it hasn't been a terrible hassle as it comes and goes. I don't know how relevant that info is if you have calculated your mpg. Sites like gasbuddy.com have a fuel logbook to track over time.

 

dont matter what you do, the MPG would still suck on a G considering its a 3.5l V6. I used to get way better mileage in my 4.6l V8
