Just got a 2004 G35 inspected need some help

2004 G35 6MT
166,000 km's
1 owner, clean carfax

Just got the car inspected and the mechanic said it was good except there was a clicking sound coming from the engine, he said it could be the valves but hes not sure. Is this something I should worry about? Should I bring the car to the dealer to diagnose the problem? The mechanic didn't seem to worried about it. Its not very loud I didn't notice it till he pointed it out.

Also the car has a cold air intake. The owner told me when it rains ALOT that the car will shake and not rev over 2000rpm. If he turns off the car its fine. He has the stock intake aswell if i want to install it. Is this some safety feature when water is being sucked up?

Thanks,
John

If the intake looked like the piping was going down into the wheel well then it was a long ram intake. You can et water soak bc it's so close to the ground. Anyway, I don't recommend getting that car. Sounds like a money pit.

Yes the intake went into the wheel well, He said to change the filter you have to remove the wheel. The owner also bought a 2007 g35 thats why hes selling this one.

I would find one that doesn't have you questioning the reliability of it.

Yeah i understand, so the water thing is a bigger problem than the clicking? I cant just install the stock instake? or its seems more deeper than just the intake

Hard to say without hearing it or being able to look at it. You could install the stock intake but that wouldn't help if there is engine damage already.

it's shaking in the rain because the intake is hydrolocking to engine

Run away and don't touch that car
