Screwed over by Infiniti and Private seller

I purchased a 2004 Infiniti g35 coupe 6MT with 60,000 miles. I had the private seller take it to the Infiniti dealer in McLean Virginia. On the drive back to St. Louis, I had to pull over because my car was leaking oil onto my brothers car behind me. I have taken it to two shops who I know the mechanics very well and am friends with them. I have to have the timing chain cover replaced and possibly the valve covers. While it was in the shop they found 5 or 6 things proving the past owner had a supercharger and it was incorrectly taken off. I was never told of the supercharger. Infiniti didn't mention anything about it. There were still bolts missing on the engine. We have proof of the supercharger, everything follows the instructions for install of Vortech Supercharger. Infiniti checked out everything, for $160! They even put a check next to engine leaks saying everything was okay. How can I pursue them or the previous owner? I may need to have the transmission fixed too. I need help!

We are taking pictures of everything to prove the supercharger just to have legal proof. We also have two write ups from shops saying they found proof for a supercharger.

Yeah but I payed $160 for Infiniti to perform 150 point inspection. They were wrong on about 30 major points.

Yes, that is why I don't believe I can get anything from the seller unless they are actually ethical which won't happen. I just want to see what I can do through the dealership. I have a meeting with my lawyer friend on Saturday, I have sent her all the documents and she thinks we have a good chance through the dealer but she will have to start negotiations. Just wanted to get feedback/see if anything similar has happened to have anyone and if they have any advice

Did you check to make sure that the VIN on the report that the seller gave to you matches up to the VIN on your car, and also the date is from when they supposedly had the car inspected? Are they original documents or copies of originals?

I double checked VIN and mileage on report AND called service manager to talk to him about car and he said "everything checks out fine." VIN was 4 days before car was picked up. There were just enough miles for the car to get to his house from Infiniti and then to meet me at the airport from his house. There was no note of anything of a supercharger in the service report. And the private seller never ever mentioned it.

Yeah I was hoping by talking to the Service Manager I could limit the ish of the inspection, but apparently $160 doesn't even get them to open your hood. Thanks man, Ill make sure to let you guys know how it turns out. The time I spent driving it I loved it lol

I was in a very similar boat as you a few months ago. I however found out to late but turns out in CT no matter what type of sale if you spend more than I think 5 grand or so on a car that's no more than 10 years old you have a 30 day window to take action and get your money back. Unfortunately I found out this out by the second month of hell with my car. Good luck bro

I will definitely have my lawyer check that out and see if it applies in Missouri or Virginia.

Yeah, the "as is" was not understood to be a screwed up car with a kid who didn't know how to take off a supercharger. Also found a bunch of rubber in the wheel wells. They marked down 7/32nds of a tread for all of the tires but the back left tire is brand new and the back right is basically 0/32nds. The locks also don't work and they had a check next to those for being in perfect condition

best case, you would get a refund on your $160 on the inspection from the dealership. Not really worth the time of a lawyer.

i would use the lawyer on getting your money back from the private seller.
