Victim of hit-and-run this morning

http://www.central-havoc.ch/~ubu/screenshots/G35/

Hey everyone, I didn't expect that the first post of pictures of my new '03 G35 to this site would be these, but I'll make up for it after the bumper gets fixed and take some nice ones :-)

I'm just sitting here at work, and a co-worker walks in and says something like "what happened to your car?!?"...and I'm like....what on earth do you mean?!?! ..."yeah you have a big dent in your bumper....you didn't see it?!?"...and all I can say is..."you're joking RIGHT!?!?"

So we both go out to look at my bumper and I couldn't believe what I saw, I was so pissed. They backed into my G and just left without leaving a note or anything. The good news is, I called the cops and they tracked down the culprit and he called me a few minutes ago and said he didn't even realize that he hit my car, and that he's sorry and will pay for it all. So, it will all work out, it's just a major pain in the butt and I have to look at the awful dent until I can get it fixed.

Good luck to you all! and don't park behind any pickup trucks with toolboxes!

A little while ago, while coming back from lunch, on of my co-workers was ranting about how I park so far away out in the boondocks. I explained that my first/only ding on my other car happened at work. The very next day, this same co-worker said he's parking out in the boondocks too. I asked why, and he took me to his car, where someone had backed into his car, shattering his taillight, and denting his bumper and trunk, and no note...

A likely story that he didn't realize he hit your G. Possible I guess......hmmm

Good thing the cops tracked him down for you. Make sure you get new parts.

When I was younger, I always looked down on those corvette drivers who thought they were special enough to occupy two parking slots. Now that I am older (and wiser), I realize you have to do that to protect your investment. Even then the knuckleheads still manage to find a way to hit/scratch your car. Good luck....

Sorry to see your G was hit, but the damage is exclusive to the bumper from what I can see......New bumper and your good to go.....
Maybe they can just pop the dent portion back out.....who knows..
At least you were able to find the culprit......that fix would have come out of your own pocket....
Good luck.

Our bumpers are made of cardboard. Literally the most useless piece of crap bumper out of any car (very very very weak). I could almost believe that he didn't know just because his car could just have touched your bumper and it could cave in. Hope they took care of this for the 05.

how'd they find the culprit?

I hate those damn Miata drivers that park all the way into the parking spots (because they think their cars are so long?!?) and you think the spot is empty so you turn in, only to slam on the brakes because there was a dinky Miata there w/ his tire pressed up against the curb!

luckily you found the culprit. i don't know about the g35c bumpers yet, but yesterday i got a laugh when i was at a toyota dealer with a friend who was looking at a camry. anyways, they have a sticker on the car that says the bumper can withstand a 2.5 mph impact without any damage. i'm thinking who's ever going to hit you going 2.5 mph? it seems kind of useless to even put that sticker on the car.

LOL P DIDDY we share ur feelings hahaha...

well 2.5 mphs is very low but if it takes NO damage @ 2.5 it should take less damage @ say 10mph than another car... +most accidents happen under 30 (statistically) so it cant hurt...

that sucks bro... hope u find the *******! and give him what he deserves... although if i hit u i would do the same... O.o.... haha just playing i wouldnt hit u.. but if i did... *cough...

It's actually amazing they found the guy, unless there was a witness who knew the car and it's owner or got a plate#. Most of these never get caught.

As far as 2.5 mph impact bumpers, it's misleading. I think the standard is that the bumper should be able to withstand a 2.5 mph impact under it's own movement with a fixed object. And the object is a broad one. A bumper react much differntly to hitting another bumper square on, or a wall than hitting a pole. The impact energy is spread out with a broader object. And a 2.5 mph Full-Size SUV will have a lot more momentum that of a 2.5 mph Metro. The conditions of this test are limited.
